From the airport to the hotel, we took the A31 bus. Very convenient. You'll know if it's your bus stop by taking note or taking a picture of the route posted at the HKIA Transportation Terminus. Silka Far East is at Chung On bus stop. The lobby is spic and span clean, spacious and modern. Checking in took less than 5 minutes. We were able to check in even at 10am, maybe because it wasn't a peak month. Though the receptionist doesn't smile much, he still gave my daughter a Disney sticker. Elevators don't take long and though they're smallish, you don't get cramped with other guests. The small size of the rooms are expected, so we can't complain about it. Besides, we're there to go around the city and not lounge around in the hotel. But I must warn you, rooms are REALLY small! There's almost no room to walk around, you have to take turns when passing between beds. Bed is a bit hard, but because we were tired, we were still able to sleep well. Pillows are fluffy, aircon is working well, the shower's water temp is easy to adjust, toiletries are free (of course), we got all we requested (room with a window, extra pillows, extra toiletries, no smoking room, late check out). The staff was very helpful too in giving us instruction on how to get to certain places and even gave tips on how to commute. They provide maps that show the vicinity of the hotel.

There were bakeries, convenience stores, a market, eateries around, too. The MTR is just walking distance. Citistore is just a block away. Very convenient.

Won't recommend, however to people who are claustrophobic.

Overall, this hotel is worth for money. The design is good, furnitures are new as it was only open in October, 2006, staffs are quite friendly and it is strategically located.
This hotel is located in Tsuen Wan and it's about 10mins walk from the Tsuen Wan MTR station, which will be the most frequent place that you would go in HK. From HK airport to the hotel, I suggest to take the A31 citybus and get down in front of the citistore shopping complex (second last station).
Public transports, e.g. bus, taxi, MTR, HK-style restaurants and 7-eleven are all easily accessible.
The only drawback of this hotel is the rooms are not soundproof. During our stays in the hotel, most of the rooms are occupied by tourists from the Mainland and we could hardly sleep later than 8am as the tourists were making so much noises in the aisle as well as their rooms. They were running from a room to another and slammed the doors, this incident repeated every morning for not shorter than half an hour and it was totally unbearable.

Me and friends stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Not bad cause this is the best rate hotel I could found in HK. It near to MTR and many nice cafes and typical hk restaurants nearby. And few shopping malls too. Room is small, that is common in HK. Is not a problem for us as the room is really clean yet comfortable even though the bed is a bit hard.

We stayed there for 4 nights DEC 12-15 the room is small but very clean and fresh smelling. The front office team were nice but hardly smile but they were able to answer all our queries. Chris is so accomodating he even helped us find for a nearby Church where we can go. The manager in the breakfast buffet is nice and very accomodating, my children really enjoyed their breakfast buffet. Our vacation in Hongkong is great and we will choose Silka again when we go back . The location is very convenient near MTR, great shopping mall and near Tsuen Wan Market .
See you again.....

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights.. we specified in our booking "Good for 3" thru Asia travel and got a room for two since there were no available rooms anymore. The room was soooo small. The "closet" was not even a closet. The refrigerator was not cool and was also very small. There was no complimentary water as well.. Carpet was dirty too. Although its close to an mtr station, given its FAR location from the tourist spots, I feel its not really worth. Good point though is theres a 7/11, mall and nice shops near. Theres even a cafe de coral close by.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We acknowledge you have placed a request for “Good for 3” through Asia Travel, but this was not confirmed by AsiaTravel nor Silka Far East. We hope to have your understanding that, whilst we will meet your booking for a regular 2-persons occupancy room, additional room enhancements such as triple beds are strictly subject to availability. The rooms at Silka Far East are designed to maximise the space, and for a fuss-free but comfortable, safe and secure stay. This keeps our rates affordable for travellers on a budget. Though complimentary water is not available, mineral water can be purchased from our minibar at supermarket prices. We apologise for the temperature in the refrigerator, and wish you have contacted our Guest Services during your stay so that we could’ve attended to it immediately. We also apologise for the unfortunate incident with the dirty carpet, and have given your feedback to our housekeeping department to ensure the cleanliness of the carpet and rooms in general. Tourist spots in Hong Kong are spread out, with Silka Far East being located in the Tsuen Wan section. Thank you for pointing out the shops and cafés nearby for the convenience of our guests. Hong Kong is also a small city and all tourist spots are easily accessible through the MTR and other public transportation. Our concierge is always happy to provide directions and recommendations.

I stayed three nights. First night in smoking floor, although I'd requested non smoking. Horrid. And the guests above and next to me had TV on at full volume until 2am. AC also not good. Slept little. Second night, they switched me to non smoking floor. Better and quieter. But room AC not functioning. Sweatbox. Third day morning, I asked that AC be fixed. Returned that evening, sweatbox. They spent an hour fixing once I was back. Workers (Not front desk) all wonderful, front desk a nightmare.

I guess you get what you pay for. Crappy place, crappy service. I didn't want a palace, just somewhere to sleep. Would NEVER come back to this hotel.

We had a hard time finding it, not to mention that not all Chinese speak nor understand English (this is sad). From the Tsuen Wan train station, they should have us picked up but no. We had to find our own way with our heavy luggages and hungry kids. This is so hard for us first timers in HK. When we finally reached it, we are all sweaty and tired. What added insult to the injury was our room- so closed and small for a booked triple-sharing with 2 kids sneak-in. We had to rearrange and request for additional beddings. The only good thing in this hotel was the buffet breakfast. Definitely not booking again here.

Dear phievargas We sincerely do apologise that your first trip to Hong Kong did not start off correctly. For the convenience of guests staying at our hotel, there's actually a hotel shuttle bus from airport to hotel every 30 minutes on a daily basis; and we do regret that you did not find our triple room which is meant for 3 adults insufficient to serve your need of 2 adults and 2 kids. However, the location of the hotel enables one to explore some of the nearby attractions which are within walking distance as well as numerous shopping facilities. In the meantime, should you have plans to visit Hong Kong again in the near future, perhaps you would consider giving us another opportunity to be of service to you and your family; and certainly we will do our utmost best to ensure a more conducive staying experience then. Regards

Hotel tug in the middle of shops and eateries. It also has a bus stop nearby for those coming by bus from the airport. Room check in was grey as the staff tried hard to give us a better room. The hotel room is sufficient for 3 Star, it has a small restaurant and TV channels are aplenty. No noise from the Chinese tourist as I guess the management tried hard to separate them to similar floors. Short walk to Tsuen wan mrt and plenty of good food, shopping and people watching... Never better and will stay again.

I stayed in this hotel for a few nights. It was a last minute booking due to a family emergency. The room was tiny, but that did not bother me. The problem that I had was the smell of the rooms. I don't know if all rooms smelled the same, but I stayed in two different rooms on Level 10, and both smelled humid and moldy. I was particularly upset when I rang the staff to discuss this problem, the first time they sent a room service attendant who claimed not to smell anything in the room. She nevertheless offered to spray some perfume. The next day I could not tolerate the smell, and rang again to ask for a different room. They did offer to show me a room, but before they brought me there, they sprayed the room with another perfume. So when I entered this other room, it smelled fine and I accepted the room. Of course within hours the smell of fragrance disappeared and the moldy smell returned. I found the staff very dishonest in this respect.
They took a lot of groups of mainland Chinese tourists, who tended to make lots of noise in the middle of the night. They talked freely and loudly in the hallway. They did not shut their room doors and yelled at their friends in other rooms.

We booked this hotel through booking.com as it was one of the not so expensive hotels in HK on the new year weekend.

The hotel is located is tsuen wan area which is around 30 min from the central district by the MTR. The MTR station is a 8 minute walk from this hotel. The hotel is located on the main road and very close to seven eleven, bus stop, mall, MTR. The staff can speak English and are very supportive. Breakfast was not all that great but if you want just a basic one like corn flakes and oats n bread butter then you can include it in your tariff. We had taken the breakfast and were satisfied with it. OK now the room...the room size is very very very tiny. You barely have place to keep your luggage. Its neat n tidy but small.

Close to this hotel is a shopping street where you can have your dinner and lunch, but difficult to find world cuisine here. This area is mostly Chinese dominated so you hardly see any other nationality here. So all you get to eat is Chinese food and lot of places even the menu is in Chinese only, so don't know what to order.

Overall a decent place for the money they charge but again very tiny rooms.
