We spent 5 nights here and didn't want to leave. We had a family bungalow with 2 queen beds and a twin bed. There was plenty of room even with 3 beds. The bathroom was huge. Lovely little front patio with table and chairs. The restaurant is fairly small so we were asked to reserve a breakfast time, but I think they were pretty flexible about that, and just didn't want everyone showing up at the same time. Breakfast was really good, ordered from a menu. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and were happily surprised at just how good their pizza was. Staff was all really friendly.
The grounds are really nice, with paved paths throughout, and to the back of the property where the hot springs pools are. I think there are 6 or 7, gorgeous little pools, and one big one, all surrounded by big rocks and lush vegetation. The hot springs pools are way nicer than I expected. It was so nice to wander back there in the evening and lounge in the pools. It was quiet, and never more than a few other people around. The bungalows are nice on their own, but the hot springs pools earn it extra points.
Off to the side at the back of the property is a little farm, and guests are welcome to wander around and visit the animals. That was a lot more fun than I expected. :) They have all kinds of birds, donkeys, sheep, miniature horses, etc.
While we were staying there we often saw a peccary on the hotel grounds. I thought it was a pig from the farm at first. :) Also saw some iguanas lounging in the trees.
Would definitely stay there again.

Dear valued guest, We cannot thank you enough for giving us such a warm and lovely review based on your recent stay at our hotel. We really appreciate it. We are very happy that the Family Villa was comfortable enough for everybody and that the room accomodations were of your liking. Thank you so much for being so patient and understanding about the breakfast reservation suggestions we want to make sure every guest has a table to enjoy breakfast before joining any scheduled expedition to explore the area of La Fortuna. We are glad you had more fun than expected at our farm, the onsite hot springs and that little peccary, Bella, is part of our little family. Thank you again for being part of El Silencio del Campo family during your stay. It was truly our pleasure to have you.

I can’t say enough good things about our stay at Hotel El Silencio de Campo in La Fortuna. While there are so many other bigger hotels in this part of the Costa Rica, this hotel is truly a hidden gem, with only 24 separate cabins in total. Yes, they are ALL cabins, not just adjoined rooms in one large hotel building, so you can have all the privacy that you need. When we arrived, we received complimentary glasses of a fruit shake, most welcome after a more than three hour ride from San Jose. The hotel was also gracious enough to have prepared our room as it was our anniversary, complete with fresh flowers from the garden outside our cabin, candles, and a complimentary bottle of champagne. What a nice touch!

The hotel includes really nice amenities such as their shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion which all just smell lovely. And I was surprised they also had an additional bottle labeled “ insect repellant” which smelled just as clean and fresh. The water pressure in the shower was strong enough as well as it’s hot, perfect after a day out in Arenal.

The hotel has its own set of thermal pools: a large pool, two smaller ones, a hot jacuzzi, and a small cold pool just for variety. A poolside bar completes the ambiance. We could have spent all our days (and evenings, yes, they’re open well into night time) by the thermal pools.

Breakfast is always fantastic. They have a nice selection of set menus served a la carte. Of course, the uniquitous gallo pinto was always available. The best part is the “bird feeders” right next to the breakfast area: small trees were fashioned so that the fresh fruit peels from the restaurant kitchen can be pinned on them and the various colorful birds of the region can perch on them and have breakfast themselves.

What I really loved was the attached small farm which was a mere couple of minutes from our cabin. Chickens of the egg-laying kind and some white fluffy ones (not sure what kind they are) abound. The hotel offers egg picking for guests each morning at 9am. They also have cow milking every morning as well at 7:30am (that was an experience!). I guess they use the milk to make their homemade cheeses. The farm also includes roaming peacocks and ducks, goats, horses (there is a miniature one as well) and donkeys, one of which one morning we found to have wandered out of its fencing and right in front of our cabin. They also have a small vegetable farm on site.

Our stay at this hotel was as memorable as it can be. For the perfect price, Hotel El Silencio de Campo definitely has it all, and it even exceeded our expectations with the farm experiences. Most definitely would recommend!

The weather was wet and grey and yet we could not think of a better place to be.
From moment that we walked into reception and were greeted with fresh fruit smoothy and a warm welcome we just knew that we had made the right choice. The room was very spacious with an air of luxury and top quality bio shampoos, insect repellents etc. The restaurant was also very welcoming with an interesting menu that changed every night. They even had their own farm on site producing organic milk, eggs and veg!
The real gem though was the series of hot springs that were exclusively for the use of clients. They were beautifully laid out, quiet with a nice outdoor bar that also had an imaginative snack menu. All in all a top class stay

We recently had the pleasure of staying here. The room are very nice and private since they are all individual cabins. The grounds are absolutely stunning and they feed the birds with fruit every morning. Food was delicious. And I cannot say enough about the staff! They were there to ask all your questions and set up all the tours if you need. They had wonderful suggestions and booked great tours for me- all done with the ease of talking to them. They make the arrangements and it is charged to your room- you just show up at the time they tell you! Wonderful visit!

Our family stayed here for 4 nights and we loved the hotel!

The hotel staff was very friendly and responsive. Since we were there during the busiest season (between Christmas and New Year), we asked for the introduction of all possible tours beforehand and had them book the tours days before we have arrived. It took very little effort with their help and we were able to have fun with all the logistics taken care of beforehand.

The hotel was boutique, clean and beautiful with lush gardens, nicely arranged villas and nice view of volcano. We were able to see the peak of the volcano from our villa upon arrival! My kids came back to our villa every day with joy upon seeing interesting arrangements that the cleaning staff made on our bed with towels and teddy bear that my daughter held to her every night. And everyday it was a different arrangement!

It was quiet even during this season. We enjoyed the hot springs in the hotel and we were always able to find a hot spring to ourselves everyday.

The food was delicious! Normally we would not want to stick to one restaurant for our vacation but my family loved everything we ordered for every dinner so much that we had to drag the kids out the last evening just for the sake of exploring other possibilities in town. I have to say the restaurant we went to based on the high reviews we saw was not comparable.

Last but not least, the working farm on site is an interesting and delightful addition to the wonderful experience. We enjoyed milking the cow, fetching and cleaning eggs in the morning.

The only thing that didn’t work perfectly was the WiFi. It was very weak and often didn’t work.

We loved staying at Hotel El Silencio del Campo! It was absolutely lovely. We were greeted with delicious fresh fruit smoothies. The staff was extraordinary and the grounds were beautiful. The staff helped with reservations for various area outings.
The family villa was perfect for our family of five. The restaurant was delicious with fresh fruit and food from the organic farm. The dinner menu changed daily and was always fun and tasty. The complimentary breakfasts were also delicious. The restaurant staff was always very happy and polite. All staff wore masks and the open air seating was well spaced out at the restaurant. Our daughters (ages 13, 11, 9) also had fun on the farm, milking the cow and collecting eggs. The cold water pool and multiple hot thermal springs pools were the perfect way to wind down the day after dark. There were lots of colorful birds and views of the volcano from the property. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

It was with a sigh of relief that we first viewed Hotel Silencio Del Campo.

That sigh turned into one of absolute bliss by the time we reached our accommodations. “Why?”, you may ask. The answer is that:
• the grounds are beautifully groomed;
• the greeting by the staff was warm, professional, very efficient and most reassuring;
• recognizing my lack of mobility, they produced a wheelchair and wheeled me to our unit;
• our accommodations were attractive from the outside, close to the dinning room and the office;
• the interior of the unit was most attractive, with modern fixtures and furnishings and it was spotlessly clean.

That afternoon my wife visited the spa area and really enjoyed the soothing waters of the (free) hot springs.

That evening, we found the water to be hot, the shower and the toilet worked perfectly as did the AC.

The dinners delivered by room service were delicious and the breakfast in the dinning room the next morning was equally so.

The beds were comfortable and well appointed.

In the morning, staff helped by wheeling me up to breakfast, where we found great viewing (and photo opportunities) of a multitude of birds that were attracted by staff supported feeding stations.

We recommend the Hotel Silencio Del Campo VERY HIGHLY!!

The photos of the hotel do not do it justice. The grounds are manicured to an art, the hot springs waterfalls were inspired, my wife loved her facial that was performed outside at the spa. The staff are kind and willing to go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

I booked this place last minute on a whim to Arenal. So glad I did. This place is so cool. All the cabins are spaced perfectly apart from each other that you feel like you are in your own private area and a step out the door and it appears most cabins have a direct look up at the volcano. A huge bonus is that they have the hot spring pools on-site so no need to go anywhere else. The restaurant and separate bar/restaurant prepared great food delivered by great service! Do not hesitate to book this hotel!

This is our family’s second visit to Silencio del Campo. The hot springs are heavenly, especially after a long day of hiking! The grounds are lush and peaceful. The cabins are roomy and comfortable. When you step out onto your patio, you can almost hug the volcano (as one of our tour guides put it!). The front desk staff is very resourceful, and Eliomar was a great help arranging tours and transportation. We were also able to arrange laundry pick up that was ready on the same day at a very reasonable price. Our son loved the farm and got to milk a cow, collect chicken eggs, and ride a horse. There are lots of animals to see, and the friendly staff is eager to show you around. At the spa, I had a glorious massage followed by a shower in the hot springs and then a glass of wine.
The food at the restaurant and bar has improved quite a bit since our last visit. The serving staff is quite young, but very friendly and happy to be of service. The drinks at the bar are great, and there are a lot to choose from.

We visited Apr/May 2021. High rise building next door was a bit of an eyesore, but no noise whatsoever. It would appear they weren’t doing very well. Rooms were dark in the evening, to me indicating no guests. We always opt for something local and charming and Silencio was just that. We wouldn’t consider staying a anywhere else. Absolutely loved it!
