SARATOGA SPRINGS — The 20,000-square-foot rococo stone mansion on North Broadway known as “Palazzo Riggi" has hit the market with a list price of $17.9 million.

The property owned by Michele Riggi sits on 1.3 acres at 637 North Broadway and has six bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, two kitchens, four fireplaces, a five-car garage, and an elevator.

A press release from the broker bills the house and grounds like so: "With fine details such as 23 marble medallions inlayed into the marble floors, beautiful frescos in the foyer, Sherle Wagner sinks, Schonbek chandeliers, and an award-winning staircase by Herndon & Merry, this home has been
appointed with the finest finishes. This pristine estate features beautiful gardens, manicured lawns, fountains, and a swimming pool with a spa and pool house."

It has indoor and outdoor radiant heat as well as a home theater.

The house was built in 2003 for Michele and husband Ronald Riggi, the businessman and philanthropist who died in August at the age of 80. The couple had been been one of Saratoga Springs’ most prominent couples, with their intricately decorated home serving as their elegant base of operations.

The “Jewel of Saratoga” is listed in a joint venture by Julie A. Bonacio, broker/owner of Julie & Co. Realty, LLC and Margie Philo, broker/owner of Berkshire Hathaway Adirondack Premier Properties. For more on the listing, visit the real estate agency’s website.

The Riggis' Lake Placid compound — a similarly fanciful but decidedly more rustic home complete with tree house decor — went on the market earlier this summer with a list price of over $31 million.
