The Sheraton Universal Hotel garners applause for its spotless environs and commendable housekeeping, while its proximity to Universal Studios and praised shuttle service are repeatedly mentioned as highlights. Despite the positive notes on service and a welcoming atmosphere, guests express concerns regarding room issues such as cleanliness, noise, and maintenance, alongside reservations about the hotel's value, pointing to steep parking fees and room rates. Nonetheless, the Club Lounge and family-friendly pool are popular amenities that guests enjoy.

The best part of the hotel is the location to the park. An uber ride from the Burbank airport is under $20 to get here. The shuttle will take you to the park and City walk so you don’t need to bother with a rental car if you fly in.
The staff has been great. While the rooms are a bit small due to their age, they are very modern in design and make good use of the space. Good quality bed and linens but a microwave would be a really helpful addition for families.
We used the pool area for a few hours. The spa has some issues sadly - it was very green and struggling to heat. Maintenance staff was working on the heat part at least. The pool lounge areas are lovely but due for a new paint job or a deep cleaning. The pool was larger than average and the deep end is 9 feet so there is room for kids to enjoy if.
We would stay here again if we come for a Universal only trip and get a good rate.

I've been staying at this hotel for business one week per month for the last several years. I've watched it pass through the hands of several owners and it's currently the best it's ever been. Most other Sheratons design and furnishings are stuck in the late 90s, but this hotel has been given a glamorous facelift over the years. The lobby space is beautiful and the soft product in the guest rooms is modern and stylish (love the new soap dispensers in the shower). The WiFI is fast and without issues and I appreciate the fact that I can self-park without having to pay exorbitant valet parking fees (ahem - looking at you AC Beverly Hills). Valet parking is available if you want that amenity. The old Sheraton club lounge on the 9th floor was closed and a new lounge was opened on the first floor and it's really a beautiful space. Daily breakfast consists of hot oatmeal, eggs and some protein (sausage or bacon), fresh fruit and a large assortment of pastries, bagels, breads, and finally a great coffee machine. It's not the spread at the club lounge in Essex House NYC, but it's better than the Beverly Hills Marriott. The lounge staff I regularly see (Devellie, Albino & Maria) are what make this feel like a second home. My only suggestion would be more lighting in the guest rooms (and I've stayed in them all from suites to standards). There's only one bedside lamp (you really need two) and the bulbs need to be brighter (and the floor lamp is more decoration than function). At night the room mood lighting is ok for watching TV, but not if you need to do anything else. As Marriott is revamping the Sheraton brand - this particular hotel would be a good model for other owners to emulate.

I almost booked a hotel further away from Universal Studios but changed my mind at the last minute and this was well worth the extra money! This is a beautiful property with a fantastic location. It's a steep but relatively short walk to the park or there's a shuttle or even better use the hack we were told about by the front desk and take the elevator in front of the hotel up to the Hilton and then it's only a 5 minute walk to the park and to Universal Studios. Even on days we didn't go to the park we loved being able to walk over to City walk for an evening stroll. We also walked about 5 minutes down to the Subway station to check out Downtown and Hollywood. Parking at $32 isn't bad for LA and don't forget that this way you're saving on paying to park at Universal.

The property itself is older but extremely well kept. Our two queen room wasn't huge but very well laid out with a floor to ceiling window, cool recessed lighting and a built in seating area. There was in room Starbucks and a small fridge which were both appreciated. The bathroom was quite spacious with a walk in shower with rain head shower.

Overall we were very impressed but there were a few things that could have been done better:

The lightning in our room was incredibly dim. My wife always notices that kind of thing, I usually don't but it was very noticeable.

The front desk wasn't the friendliest at check in.

We were surprised that electric vehicle charging wasn't free as the website indicated it was and we'd already paid so much for parking.

These are small quibbles and I highly recommend this property for people visiting Universal. Even if you're not, the somewhat removed location yet proximity to Subway and highway make this a good location.

We picked this hotel based on it's proximity to Universal Studios and it was great for that.

The hotel is clean and large.

The only king room they had left when we checked in was on the 1st floor, which we said was ok.

Getting to the room felt like we were being sent down to the basement. The hallways were very long and narrow.

Once we got to our room, it was a nice room, but strangely plain with what appeared to be sound proofing panels on the walls. They seemed to work, because the room was very quiet.

There was a large sliding glass door on the room and you could open it and walk out onto a walkway. Once outside you could walk up and down beside all of the other rooms on the 1st floor. We found that to be a little creepy. We put our luggage in front of the door, so that if someone tried to get in, they would at least trip over all of our luggage!!

The room was very clean and tidy. It was small, but we were mostly just there to sleep, so it was ok.

The bathroom had a large walk in shower with great water pressure.

The hotel has a shuttle that will take you to Universal City and we used it to take us to eat and then to Universal Studios.

You have to pay to park and there is self parking. We were able to leave our vehicle in the parking while we spent the day at Universal, which was a great perk of this hotel.

All in all, if you are planning on going to Universal, you can't go wrong with this hotel.

We would stay here again if we ever come back to Universal.

Location location location is great if you want to go to universal studios ás this is literally on the property. You can walk or they have a shuttle every 10 to 15 mins. The parking is free if they have a deal so check directly on the Sheraton website for their package deals (hotels.com or Expedia may not offer free parking on their site.)

The two double beds it queen beds were not offered on the higher floors, and breakfast is not included. There are many great restaurants nearby (good neighbor is a great breakfast place about 4 mins drive from here.) The hotels in universal city walk (a row of restaurants and shops in universal city) are fancy and touristy.

The pool facing rooms get noisy and the pools are crowded with a single small jaçuzzi. The bed is very comfortable and the two stars were reduced due to the mediocre grounds and pool, as well as the bathrooms showers. The shower was average like a motel with a plastic shower curtain and did not have much pressure in the water.

The place has good lobby where you can do your work or eat your ubereats food. They have a coffee bar for breakfast - don't waste time and go to the nearest Starbucka outside universal city which is less than 10 mins away on the way to studio city. The Starbucks in universal studios are packed at all times.

My booking started with redeeming points through Capital One Travel. I was guaranteed 3pm check in. We are also a Bon Voy member and a Founders Card Member which provides a higher tier level also. On top of being sick each time I called to see if my room was ready I was told 4pm instead of 3pm for check in. Then when I arrived at the hotel with my printed out form that stated 3pm they changed the statement to check in starts at 3pm. No, that is not the same! We headed off to Universal after checking our bags with the door. At noon I really started to feel really sick. So I called the hotel is my room ready. I was told again no not until 4pm. I explained I had already been there and showed that I was provided a 3pm checkin from by benefits.

Not to take all day on one point. Lets move on to the next item. The hotel lists a shuttle as an amenity. Its universal's shuttle not the hotels. So when its busy in the morning the shuttle runs 20-30 minutes not every 10 minutes as outlined on there website. So we ended up taking an Uber back and forth since I felt sick.

The room was small did I mention we had booked an Executive suite. With club access. So even with booking one of there expensive rooms you are treated very poorly.

The club lounge was very limited, they also close down early for some reason. You know they are suppose to open from like 8am to 11am and at 10:15 they are pulling the few food items they did have.

This hotel does not honor Bon Voy or Founders Member level perks. No late check out either.

All in all a very poor stay both from the property to the staff.

The hotel has certainly not met my expectations as a Marriott Bonvoy group hotel.

The room phones being down and being asked to use our personal phones at our cost. I understand this may not be too much of an expense for a US resident who has a local contract however for an international guest the cost to use our own mobile is charged at a much higher rate.

The in room internet was also disconnected on our final day. I was unable to finish up my work before checking out. This on the back of having to phone the technical support team to get the computer connected in the first place (at my expense due to the room phones not working).

The final straw was the pool closure which leaves me feeling a little cheated on my choice to stay with Sheraton. This on top of having to pay $35 (plus tax) per night to park our car for the duration of the stay.

I had emailed during our stay and Henry Franco did email back with a generic response apologising, however when replying to the email no response was ever received!

I’m very disappointed and this is not the experience i envisaged when booking this hotel. There are a vast choice of hotels and as it stands i wouldn’t be choosing to visit again.

Booked this hotel because it was close to Universal Studios, I was debating on the Hilton and this hotel and I'm sooo happy I went with the Sheraton!! First off I must say everyone that works there is incredibly welcoming and so friendly. Jerry at the front desk was super helpful he informed us that since we booked the club level room we had free access to the Sheraton club lounge throughout our whole stay, which was 4days. We got free breakfast from 6:30-10am everyday bacon, eggs, cereal, pastries, and a coffee maker if you wanted a cappuccino, latte etc. in the evening 6pm-9pm they had chips, salsa, guacamole, pita with hummus, pot stickers etc, and you could bring it back to your room! I forgot all the bottled water and soda you want. They also had wine $15 a glass but everything else was included. Our server Helen was the nicest person you'll ever meet!
Our room was super clean, and it included a LARGE bottle of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. It also came with a couple of toothbrushes, mouthwash a robe and slippers. Our bathroom had a small magnifying mirror attached to the wall but didn't light up. Also, came with a large blow dryer. The only thing I didn't like about the bathroom was it didn't have a fan. When you close the door of the bathroom there was a huge mirror, I loved that! They had complimentary bottled water in the room, ice bucket, mini fridge, ((no microwave)) a coffee machine with Starbucks coffee and a few cups.
The bed was so comfortable and soft it had 4 large soft pillows and we slept so good, for the people that can only sleep when the room is super cold I have to say the air conditioner is locked at 65 degrees, now that might seem cold but it really wasn't it felt more like 76, I wish I got the room with the balcony because at night it does get a little chilly outside and maybe it would have been cooler to sleep with the doors open?
We will definitely be back, Sheraton you have an AMAZING STAFF and they really make you feel like your family. I'm excited to see if other Sheraton Hotels are just as amazing!! Thank You for making our stay wonderful!!

We booked two nights here specifically for easy access to Universal Hollywood theme park. That we got. What I didn’t get was a nice quiet sleep. The hotel is busy. I checked in early online and gave an anticipated arrival time of 11pm. Upon checking in we were given a room on floor 4. We asked specifically for a room FAR from the elevators. We got a room right beside the elevators and you couldn’t be any closer. When you are beside the elevator banks you spend all evening listening to the three elevators go up and down. It is loud. Speaking of elevators, they are super slow. And we spent a lot of time waiting for one. One positive of being on the 4th floor is that once we got on an elevator it was a super short ride thankfully as they tend to move slowly and are usually full. Our neighbours laughed it up until way past 1AM as well. Walls are thin. There was a wedding below us in a ballroom and I had to listen to the DJ all night long too.
We booked a room for four people and only had three towels. I asked for more towels on the Bonvoy app and surprisingly a gentleman delivered all the extra towels I requested quickly. That was the only pro for our stay. The people working are very nice. I have to give a lot of credit to the staff. Unfortunately the hotel is showing it’s age, rooms are super small and walls thin. It wasn’t cheap especially the Saturday night stay. We got a room twice the size and so much more pleasant when we moved to the Disneyland area and for less money per night.

As a business traveler who uses a wheelchair to get around, I was impressed by the great customer service I received at the hotel. I have to thank Manager Henry - he held a second room for me just in case the one that they we holding for me wouldn't meet my needs. Indeed, he was right. Although being an ADA room, it was rather small and there was no hand held shower head for the tub. The other room was larger, had a roll in shower and a hand held shower head. Although not one of their official ADA rooms, it worked out a lot better.

When I arrived, I was greeted by Chito, who was there to help with bags. He directed me the perfect handicapped parking spot. He showed me both rooms, which was a long walk down the hallway for the first one. With a completely helpful demeanor, he placed my bags where I needed them and hung up my garment bag.

The only thing to point out is that because this hotel is adjacent to Universal Studios theme park and is up a long steep hill, it is not a place to stay if you want to take a walk around the neighborhood of go out to a convenience store. Yes, you can hop back in your car, but if you want to be close to things beyond the theme park, this might not be your perfect choice.

I have become a fan of Marriott. Customer service and friendliness seem to be priorities and all I can say is that it pays off in return business.
