Man arrested, charged with murder in weekend slaying of Shelbyville woman

A man wanted in the weekend slaying of a Middle Tennessee woman is now in custody, according to Shelbyville police.

Police had been searching for Steven Andrew Lokey, 29, in connection with the death of Adrienne Cox, 30, at her Neeley Avenue apartment complex Saturday, the Times-Gazette is reporting.

Police said he is charged with first-degree murder.

A motive in the killing was not immediately known, and police have not released how Cox died.

According to police, Lokey fled the homicide scene in a black Chevrolet Tahoe bearing Tennessee plate 7W8-1X0.

He had been on the run since Saturday and was apprehended by officers on Sunday.
