Dr. David Parks
Dr David S. Parks began serving as Executive Pastor of Shandon Baptist in October 2021. He has also served as Executive Pastor at Harrisburg Baptist in Tupelo, MS, and Mount Pleasant Baptist just south of Richmond, VA. David previously served as Associate Executive Director & Chief of Operations for the South Carolina Baptist Convention for nine years. He has also served on staff at churches in Miami, FL, Augusta, GA, Louisburg, NC and Charlotte, NC. David has more than 35 years of vocational ministry experience with much of this being in large regional churches. In addition, he has served on several ministry boards, numerous denominational committees and as adjunct professor of Theology and Leadership at several Baptist schools.
David is a graduate of North Carolina State University (B.A. in Business Management and a B.A. in Economics), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div with Christian Education) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (EdD). David’s ministry passions are discipleship and evangelism, leadership, and church health. He loves investing in and coaching younger leaders and developing them as disciple makers. David has written Sunday School curriculum, Bible study commentary, VBS material and various articles for Lifeway Church Resources for decades. He has written numerous articles for professional journals and denominational periodicals. He also contributed to Mounce’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words.
David and wife Tami have been married for 33 years and have three children and one grandchild. In his spare time, David is a volunteer High School Football coach. He also loves spending time with his family, reading, writing, hunting, golf, and college football.
