In fact, almost every other day, there are some amazing films releasing on OTT platforms such as Netflix, Hotstar VIP, Amazon Prime Video and more. In the recent past, there have been not one but 11 amazing films that have made their way to OTT platforms. From Mammootty’s The Priest, Uppena, Jathi Ratnalu and more – there are 11 amazing titles that recently released on Hotstar VIP, Amazon Prime Video, ZEE5 and more. Jathi Ratnalu – Amazon Prime Video

Jathi Ratnalu started streaming on Amazon Prime Videos on April 11. The Telugu film stars Naveen Polishetty, Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi to name a few. The Telugu comedy film was a huge hit when it had a theatrical release earlier this year. Jathi Ratnalu follows the tale of three men who were arrested for a crime they did not commit. They arrive in the city and try to get their lives back on track. Mahanati director Nag Ashwin ventured into production with Jathi Ratnalu. Anudeep KV has directed the film. Joji – Amazon Prime Video

Joji is a black-comedy crime drama film starring Fahadh Faasil along with Baburaj, Shammi Thilakan, and Unnimaya Prasad in supporting roles. The Malayalam film is said to be inspired by William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Joji has been streaming on Amazon Prime Video since 7th April 2021. The film was directly released on the OTT platform. The Priest

The Priest is a supernatural horror-thriller starring veteran actor Mammootty. It tells the tale of Fr. Carmen Benedict. This Malayalam paranormal mystery thriller is directed by Jofin T. Chacko and also features Manju Warrier, Nikhila Vimal, Saniya Iyappan, Jagdish, Lishoy to name a few. The Priest is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Videos.

Mandela

Mandela is a Tamil comedy-drama and a political satire directed by Madonne Ashwin. It essentially features Yogi Babu with Sheela Rajkumar, Sangili Murugan and G. M. Sundar play supportive roles. Mandela is set in the backdrop of elections where two parties are running for the same. It takes a hilarious turn when a local barber becomes a decisional voter as to who will be the ruling party. Mandela has been released on Netflix.

Irul

Here’s another Fahadh Faasil movie that released on Netflix. Irul is a Malayalam mystery thriller movie that follows a couple who due to unforeseen circumstances take shelter in a nearby home. The twist in the tale is that one of them is a killer. Irul got a lot of praises and it also stars Soubin Shahir and Darshana Rajndendran in key roles. Irul has been directed by Naseef Yusuf Izuddin.

Uppena

Uppena is a love story and a social drama film that touches upon the casteism that exists in the country. Uppena stars Panja Vaisshnav Tej, Krithi Shetty, and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. The Telugu blockbuster film is streaming on Hotstar VIP and tells the tale of Rayanam, Aasi and Bebamma. Aasi and Bebamma are in love but belong to different castes. Rayanam is a village elder and Bebamma aka Sangeetha’s father. He is strictly against inter-caste marriage and opposes Bebamma and Aasi’s union. What happens next is worth watching.

Paramapadham Vilayattu

Paramapadham Vilayattu is a Tamil-political thriller starring Trisha Krishnan. Earlier scheduled for an OTT released, the makers decided to go ahead with an OTT in the wake of the rising cases on COVID-19. Paramapadham Vilayattu follows the story of a common man who gets embroiled in a political tussle. You can watch Paramapadham Vilayattu on Disney Plus Hotstar VIP.

Mathil

Mathil is a Tamil drama by Mithran Jawahar starring KS Ravikumar, Shanjith, Mime Gopi, Madhumita to name a few. It has been streaming on ZEE5 and talks about Lakshmikanthan, a common man who takes a stand against a corrupt politician for his right and builds his dream home.

Yuvarathnaa

Yuvarathnaa is a Kannada film starring Puneeth Rajkumar, Sayyeshaa, Sonu Gowda, Dhananjay and Prakash Raj. The film has a political backdrop with a focus on the educational systems in the country. It talks about the effect of privatization of educational systems. Yuvarathnaa is streaming on Amazon Prime Studios.

Anbirkiniyal

Anbirkiniyal is a Tamil movie, a survival thriller film by Gokul. It is a remake of 2019’s Malayalam film Helen and stars Keerthi Pandian, Arun Pandian, Praveen Raja and Ravindra Vijay in key roles. Anbirkiniyal tells the story of a woman who accidentally gets stuck in a freezer room and fights to stay alive. Anbirkiniyal is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Vellam

Vellam is a biographical drama film in Malayalam, directed by Prajesh Sen. It stars Jayasurya and Samyuktha Menon in lead roles with Siddique, Sreelakshmi, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Johny Antony in other supporting roles. Vellam is based on real-life incidents of a Kerala-born businessman Murali Kunumpurath who turned his life from a full-time alcoholic to a successful international businessman.
