Adolfo 'Shabba Doo' Quiñones
Adolfo "Shabba Doo" Quiñones, the dancer-actor who rose to fame starring in Breakin' and its sequel Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, died Wednesday, December 30. He was 65.
No cause of death has been announced. Just a day before he was discovered unconscious, Quiñones had posted a photo of himself smiling and giving the peace sign in bed, writing, "Good news y'all! I'm feeling all better, just a wee bit sluggish from my cold, but the good news is I'm Covid 19 negative! Woo hoo!"
Dawn Wells
Dawn Wells, who starred as "good girl" Mary Ann in the popular 1960s sitcom Gilligan's Island, died on December 30 of causes related to COVID-19 in Los Angeles. She was 82.
Armando Manzanero
Mexican ballad singer and composer Armando Manzanero died at the age of 85, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said on Monday, December 28.
Manzanero was hospitalised in recent weeks with COVID-19 and at one point was on a ventilator.
Nick McGlashan
Nick McGlashan, a fisherman who was a regular cast member on Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch, died on Sunday, December 27 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 33.
Tony Rice
Tony Rice, the master bluegrass picker who drew fans worldwide for the chance to hear the quick, fluid sounds he conjured from his storied Martin D-28 guitar, died at age 69.
Rice passed away December 25 at his home in Reidsville, North Carolina, according to International Bluegrass Music Association spokesperson Casey Campbell.
"Sometime during Christmas morning while making his coffee, our dear friend and guitar hero Tony Rice passed from this life and made his swift journey to his heavenly home," Ricky Skaggs wrote on Facebook of Rice.
Rebecca Luker
Rebecca Luker, a three-time Tony-nominated actor who starred in some of the biggest Broadway hits of the past three decades, died on Wednesday. She was 59.
Luker went public in 2020 saying she had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, also called ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Stella Tennant
Stella Tennant, the aristocratic British model who was a muse to designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Gianni Versace, died suddenly at the age of 50.
Tennant, the granddaughter of a duke, rose to fame in the 1990s while walking the runway for designers including Versace and Alexander McQueen.
K.T. Oslin
K.T. Oslin, a three-time Grammy-winning country singer and songwriter, died December 21 after battling Parkinson's Disease and being diagnosed with COVID-19. She was 78.
Oslin won a trio of Grammys in the late 1980s for her songs '80s Ladies' and 'Hold Me.' She took home best country vocal performance by a female for '80s Ladies' in 1988, then won the same award and best country song for 'Hold Me' in 1989. The singer-songwriter also topped the charts with her 1990 song 'Come Next Monday.'
Jeremy Bulloch
British actor Jeremy Bulloch, known for his role as Boba Fett in Star Wars films, died December 17 at the age of 75.
Bulloch was the first actor to play Boba Fett, a Mandalorian bounty hunter in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. He reprised the role in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi and in Star Wars shorts, Return of the Ewok (1982) and Bulloch Fett (2015).
Bulloch's death comes weeks after Boba Fett appeared in hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian.
Marcus D'Amico
Marcus D'Amico, the actor who played the character of Mouse in the original Tales of the City miniseries, died December 16. He was 55.
D'Amico died of pneumonia at his home in Oxfordshire, England.
Ann Reinking
Tony Award-winning Broadway legend Ann Reinking, an actor, dancer and choreographer, died the night of December 12 in Washington. She was 71.
She is best known for playing Roxie Hart in 1977's Chicago, replacing Gwen Verdon. She also starred in the original film of Annie, playing Grace Farrell.
John Le Carre
John le Carre, the spy-turned-novelist whose elegant and intricate narratives defined the Cold War espionage thriller and brought acclaim to a genre critics had once ignored, died December 12 at age 89.
His signature works — including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Spy Who Came in From the Cold — captured the drama and tension of the Cold War.
The death was not related to COVID-19.
Barbara Windsor
Beloved British actress Dame Barbara Windsor passed away on December 11.
It was her husband, Scott Mitchell, that shared the news with PA news agency, confirming that the EastEnders legend died aged 83.
Mitchell did not reveal an official cause of death but in the lead up to her passing, Windsor had battled Alzheimer's disease. She was first diagnosed with the degenerative disease in 2014, but it wasn't until 2018 she made her diagnosis public.
Former Third Eye Blind bassist Jason Slater.
Jason Slater, one of the original band members of rock band Third Eye Blind, died at 49 years of age on December 9.
Slater's daughter Alyssa Carlson confirmed to TMZ that the rocker passed away from liver failure in Maui. Carlson reportedly didn't have any knowledge of her dad's condition until last month when she received a call saying he'd been admitted to hospital.
Natalie Desselle-Reid
Actor Natalie Desselle-Reid, known for her roles in Madea's Big Happy Family, Eve and B*A*P*S*, died December 7 at the age of 53.
"Natalie Desselle the beautiful talented actress passed away this morning," Desselle-Reid's manager wrote in a statement. "Natalie was a bright light. She was an amazing actress and comedienne but also an awesome mother & wife."
According to TMZ, Desselle-Reid had been privately battling colon cancer.
David Lander
Actor David Lander, best known as Squiggy on the ABC sitcom Laverne & Shirley, died December 4 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles. He was 73.
Lander died of multiple sclerosis, which he battled for 37 years. Since going public with his diagnosis in 1999, Lander spoke of his experience at a number of related conventions.
Warren Berlinger
Warren Berlinger, the actor best known for his role in Happy Days and Cannonball Run, died on December 2. He was 83.
Berlinger passed away at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia, California, as confirmed by daughter Elizabeth. A cause of death has not been shared.
The actor's showbiz debut was on Broadway, making his first appearance in 1946 at nine years old in a production of Annie Get Your Gun. He went on to star in other productions like Take a Giant Step, A Roomful of Roses, Blue Denim in 1958, and in 1961, Neil Simon's Come Blow Your Horn.
Hugh Keays-Byrne
Hugh Keays-Byrne died December 1 at age 73.
Byrne was famously known for his role as "Immortan Joe" in Max Max: Fury Road in 2015. He was also in the original Mad Max movie in 1979 where he played Toecutter.
Byrne was the only actor to appear in both the original Mad Max trilogy and the fourth film.
Abby Dalton
Actress Abby Dalton, best known for her role as Julia Cumson in Falcon Crest, died at the age of 88 following a long illness.
She also held starring roles in The Joey Bishop Show and The Jonathan Winters Show, both of which saw Dalton taking on the persona of the titular actors' wife.
The star is survived by her husband Jack D. Smith and her children Matthew, Kathleen and John, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandson.
