The Master of Science in Counseling: Concentration in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling (MFCC) provides the student with a degree that can lead to practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in California. Marriage and family therapists (MFTs) are counselor specialists trained to provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for individuals, couples, families, and groups to achieve more adequate, satisfying, and productive relationships, mental health functioning, and social adjustment.

Our Equity and Social Justice Education MA is comprised of theoretical, historical, & political perspectives on educational equity & social justice using an intersectional lens. The pedagogies & teaching philosophies modeled in our classes are facilitative, interactive, & participatory, utilizing critical dialogue and reflection, class demonstrations, and simulations to gain insight into issues related to equity & social justice. Program graduates work as leaders in a variety of settings, including PK-12 schools, colleges and universities, community service agencies, & educational non-profits.

The M.A. degree in Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) in the Department of Family, Interiors, Nutrition & Apparel (FINA) is designed to prepare students for advanced studies of individual, family, and community issues using an interdisciplinary approach. Students gain a greater understanding of current issues and trends as well as their implications for optimum quality of life for individuals, families, and communities. Individual studies can be developed around the following specializations: Apparel Design & Merchandising Interior Design Dietetics Family and Consumer Sciences

The MA in Curriculum and Instruction equips teachers with knowledge of current education research and culturally responsive pedagogical practices to support their work in diverse school settings. The program includes: A focus on integrating core content areas across the curriculum Engagement in action research and self-study as tools to improve educational outcomes Opportunities to engage in analysis and receive feedback on your teaching as it develops

The M.S. in Counseling incorporates four specializations and/or emphases: career, college, school, and gerontology. The scope of this degree allows students the flexibility to focus their attention on specific areas of interest. The student combines the core sequence of classes with their specialization or emphasis. Counselors will be able to function in a wide variety of community agencies and work with individuals of all ages. The curriculum meets most of the educational requirements to be eligible for the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor license.

The Master of Arts program in Sexuality Studies provides an integrative and comprehensive graduate degree for students interested in studying and working with issues related to human sexuality, sexuality education, research and social policy. It offers an interdisciplinary curriculum in the study of sexuality, with particular emphasis on theory, research and application. Sexual and cultural diversity and their relevant historical, social, developmental and biological aspects are considered.

The Early Childhood Education MA provides educators with advanced knowledge and training in research, theory, and practice for working with children and families in multicultural and multilingual early childhood settings. Special emphasis is placed on teacher inquiry, documentation, and reflection as a foundation for transformative early childhood education. Veteran faculty members provide engaging courses, frequent mentoring, and research opportunities. Late afternoon and evening courses with a mix of in-person and online class sessions.
