I bought this CD because I think " The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" is a masterpiece of cinema. The Bowie renditions by Seu Jorge are like a spice used judiciously in a signature culinary dish: You don't necessarily notice it right away but if it wasn't there you'd certainly miss it.
This CD in its entirety is in my entertaining playlist and somewhere between the welcome drink and the appetizer my date usually says something like " Hey, that's a David Bowie song!", and it establishes my home as THE place to be and me as THE person by whom to be entertained.
I would advise a good thorough serious listen also because I find it sonically perfect at the correct volume: This is not something crank up and blast like Ziggy Stardust (& TSFM). Do yourself a favor and get it in your dinner 'party" playlist along with Rampal & Bolling 'Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano " and Van the man's "Astral Weeks"...
If you play it right, your party will be a sucess!

I saw this guy perform downtown Nashville in 2016. I couldn't understand half of what he said (when speaking in English). You don't have to understand what he says when he sings though. He could singing about calling me an idiot and it would still sound awesome. This guys voice is awesome. The movie is one of my favorites and watched it at least 20 times after I discovered it. Bill Murray is just hilarious. But Seu Jorge just sounds amazing. Wish i could have actually met the guy at his show. I would recommend this album to anyone who likes good music. I mean it's all Bowie covers but Seu Jorge sounds awesome.

An absolute must listen for even the most casual Bowie fan or fan of excellent covers. The Portugese lyrics make the songs sound even more sophisticated, if that's really possible for any DB tune. Heck, I've read that Bowie himself loved them and there is no greater praise than that.

It features Seu Jorge's acoustic guitar and Portuguese lyrics. It's one of those moments when you feel that this is so familiar and yet so different. I really like the Bowie songs, and the other songs are great too. Its relaxing and fun to listen to.
