If you're having a problem logging in
To finish creating an account, you need to confirm that you own the email or mobile phone number that you used to create the account:
  • To confirm your mobile number, enter the code you get via text message (SMS) in the Confirm box that shows up when you log in. Learn what to do if you didn't get the SMS.
  • To confirm your email, click or tap the link in the email you got when you created the account. Learn what to do if you can't find the email.
Confirming your email or mobile number helps us know that we're sending your account info to the right place.
Note: Please confirm your email or mobile number as soon as possible. You may not be able to use your account until you confirm your email or mobile number. If you do not confirm your account, it may be deleted after one year of inactivity.
Right now, this feature is only available with certain mobile carriers.
If you install the Facebook app on your Android, your phone or tablet should let you know that the app is asking for your permission to access information or use features from your Android. Almost all apps need certain permissions to run on Android, and we use these permissions to run features in the app. Keep in mind that Android controls the way the permissions are named, and the way they’re named doesn’t necessarily reflect the way the Facebook app uses them.
We realize that some of these permissions sound scary, so we’d like to provide more info about how we use them. Below, you'll find a list of some of the permissions we request for the Facebook app, as well as an example of how we use each one. Keep in mind that this list doesn’t include all of the Android permissions we request or all of our uses of those permissions.
Android permission (what you’ll see on your Android)Examples of what we use this permission for
Download files without notificationThis allows us to improve the app experience by pre-loading News Feed content.
Read/write your contacts These permissions allow you to import your phone’s contacts to Facebook and sync your Facebook contacts to your phone.
Add or modify calendar events and send email to guests without owners’ knowledge This allows you to see your Facebook events in your phone’s calendar.
Read calendar events plus confidential information This allows the app to show your calendar availability (based on your phone’s calendar) when you’re viewing an event on Facebook.
We may update this, so check back here to learn more about Android permissions and how we use them. To learn more about how we collect and use data, review our Data Policy.
