Thrilling and relentless from start to finish, Yeon Sang-ho's Seoul Station is a layered and vicious entry into the zombie genre.

Pierce Conran Time Out That leaves us with a solid but less compelling work in his growing filmography that satisfies neither as art or entertainment. Rated: 3/5 Mar 20, 2020 Full Review Clarence Tsui Hollywood Reporter While not exactly as intriguing and powerful as his previous animated features, Seoul Station still offers visuals and a narrative in perpetual, gripping motion. Mar 20, 2020 Full Review Gwilym Mumford Guardian At times it is oppressively morose, but it has a nice dusting of social realism to go with the violence, and reaches an agreeably nasty conclusion. Rated: 3/5 Mar 17, 2017 Full Review Tom Cassidy Common Sense Media Seoul Station lacks Train to Busan's compelling "zombies on a train" premise but shares its intensity. Rated: 3/5 Nov 6, 2023 Full Review Carlos Cañas El antepenúltimo mohicano A morbid critique on the horrifying ways humanity can turn on itself. [Full Review in Spanish] Mar 20, 2020 Full Review Jordi Costa El Pais (Spain) Seoul Station succeeds on its unfriendly characters, sustained discomfort and, above all, an unforgiving diagnosis of the moral misery of a society that perhaps was already living its well-deserved Apocalypse inside. Joshua H This movie was amazing. The people hating on it are either mad because it didn't go down some imaginary checklist answering questions about how things led up to train to Busan and/or they're mad it wasn't as good as Train to Busan without judging it as a standalone movie at all. "But there's no answer as to how everything started!". Exactly, because everyone assumed the old man infected was just some homeless guy and refused to help him. Their classist prejudice screwed everyone and left the origin of the virus unsolved. That's the point. That plus the fact that the virus was able to initially spread through the neglected and ignored homeless population. Which makes sense because, let's face it, a virus that has to spread through entering wounds would not spread effectively unless neglected. Other stories related to zombies have had their explanations for how something like this was able to spread so effectively, but this is a pretty original way to go about it. Not to mention effectively carried out. Plus, was it really a super necessary question to answer? What answer could they have given us that we haven't already gotten a million times over?"But the main character's were so unlikeable!". For the most part this is true, but I've honestly never liked this criticism. I guess this can largely be chalked up to a preference, but I don't believe main characters have to be likeable. The reality of the ugly world around us doesn't leave many super likeable heroes to be admired. People also complain about the English voice acting. I didn't experience this because I watched the subbed. So maybe go with that because the voice acting there was actually really good. All in all an interesting story with amazing social commentary and tense, well crafted action scenes. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Ricardo d um bom filme animado, belos gráficos, roteiro interessante mas nada inovador, com um plot final bacana, mas que não garante uma torcida para os personagens Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Endora S Beautifully drawn. Wanted to like this one, but I can't feel anything for two pimps and a girl who can't even do the minimum how hard would it have been to hit that guy over the head. Omay nvm. But I couldn't understand why she wanted to stay with her boyfriend it was also why she couldn't do anything for him. And more so I was expecting some sorta context as to what happened at biotech how the virus was released how that deer in Ansan contracted the virus what happened when it transferr3d to humans that made animals no longer infected what happened with that deer at the start to train to Susan. It was still good to each and everything but again it fails to capture the heart like a train and leaves more questions than when you started I wasn't to know what happened with that deer in Ansan from the start of the train. Who was patient zero what caused humans to contract it what happened when humans started being infected and animals were not was there a place where both animals and people were getting it? Why did that Go to stay with hi woon even though he was no better than the other guy at the end of the day where does she think that guy started It's good as an animated short if you want a classic zombie movie so will give it that Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review StephenPaul C The scariest 01 hour: and 32 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review colin j That was a sad ending, bless Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/01/23 Full Review david l Seoul Station is exceedingly dark, brutal and nihilistic as most Yeon Sang-ho movies are. In that respect, it's wildly different from Train to Busan despite it acting as a direct prequel to that great movie. But it still mostly works because it deals with important social issues of South Korea while still being visceral in the zombie genre elements. The ending is particularly striking and tragic.
