Brooke Shields, 54, shares stunning bikini photo on Instagram

Fit as ever at 54!

Brooke Shields posted a skin-baring snapshot on Instagram this week, looking gorgeous on a boat in a pink bandeau bikini. "Boat bum," she captioned the summery pic.

The model-actress revealed earlier this year that her daughters, 16-year-old Rowan and 13-year-old Grier, have urged their mom to show off her figure despite her hesitations. The girls have "given me such confidence," she said.

"My daughters are always like, ‘Mom, you work so hard. Why don’t you ever post?’” Shields told Yahoo Entertainment in April. "I’m like, ‘It’s weird.’ If I’m in an ad, I can do that. I feel like it’s a job, then I can do it, but to just post pictures of myself. … My two daughters are like, ‘Mom, it’s good for you to be seen like this. You look good in your bathing suit.'"

The posts, she said, still come with a bit of self-consciousness. "I will say that, at times, it's hard not to try to live up to what you think other people expect of you," she said.

She continued, "If you've been labeled a supermodel ... and all of a sudden, you know, you're 53, and you don't look like you did when you were fifteen, is that disappointing [to everyone]? It took me a long time before I stopped comparing myself to other people, you know, and I think that's a huge step."

Shields shares both daughters with her husband, screenwriter and producer Chris Henchy, who she wed in 2001.
