The SEC Championship takes place normally on the first Saturday in December and the history of this game goes back to 1992.

Alabama has the most all-time SEC title wins with nine, while Florida is right behind them with seven championships. The SEC West has won 10 of the last 12 championships.

SEC CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORICAL NOTES

The most common matchup in the history of the SEC Championship is between Florida and Alabama, which has happened 10 times.

Alabama has the most appearances (15), trailed by Florida (13).

The Crimson Tide own a 11-4 overall record and they have won eight of the past 11 years, including a 27-24 upset of Georgia on Dec. 2, 2023.

Alabama's three-year title run ended in 2017 as the Crimson Tide failed to qualify for the SEC championship.

Auburn knocked off Alabama in the regular season finale to reach the SEC title game, but the Tigers were rolled by Georgia, who captured its first SEC title since 2005.

The Crimson Tide took back the SEC crown in 2018 as Alabama erased a 14-point second-half deficit in a 35-28 triumph over Georgia in a National Championship rematch.

LSU returned to the SEC title game in 2022 for the first time since 2011 as the Tigers took care of Georgia, 37-10, marking the sixth time in seven years this contest has been decided by double-digits.

KentuckyOle MissTexas A&M and Vanderbilt are the only four SEC schools who have not made an appearance in the title game.
