Fortnite has remained relevant through the years in large part due to its seasonal battle passes and Chapter system that has drastically changed the game's setting along with introducing new weapons and a rotating roster of crossover skins and cosmetics. But how long do each of Epic Games' seemingly endless array of updates last?
There have been a total of 16 Fortnite Seasons since the title's inception. Epic Games didn't immediately roll out its battle pass system when it first launched on July 17, 2017. Several months passed before Chapter 1 Season 1 launched on October 25 of that year, but it proved to be one of Epic's most invaluable ways to keep Fortnite fresh.
Fortnite's seasonal updates almost always occur on Thursdays and can last multiple months to give players a chance to get used to a new map and earn all of the battle pass' rewards. Epic Games recently released Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6, which once again altered the game's island and added a Lara Croft skin from the Tomb Raider franchise. Fortnite: How Long Are Seasons?
Fortnite seasons have varied greatly since Epic Games introduced the system in 2017. The battle royale's first season was the shortest one on record, lasting only 7 weeks. On the other hand, Chapter 2 Season 1 of Fortnite lasted 18 weeks, making it the longest season in the game's history, justified by substantial map changes. Despite certain outliers, every Fortnite season has lasted approximately 11 and a half weeks, or 2 and a half months, on average. Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 has yet to receive an official end date, but Epic Games has revealed that its battle pass will expire on June 7.
