Chapter 3: Season 1, also known as Season 19, was the nineteenth season of Fortnite: Battle Royale and the first season of Chapter 3. The season started at 10:00 AM (EST) after the downtime Drift To Artemis concluded taking place after Chapter 2: Season 8's live event The End had concluded. It started on December 5th 2021 and ended on March 19th 2022.
The title of the season is Flipped, due to the Chapter 2 island turning upside down and revealing a new Island during The End.
Previously, in Fortnite...[]
During Chapter 2: Season 8, The Convergence was built by The Cube Queen and started spreading Sideways Corruption across the island. A small fort was built near Pleasant Park to serve as a last stand for The Loopers.
During The End, The Convergence, which had transformed into The Pyramid, was used by The Cube Queen to open a rift to her reality. Through the rift, she summoned motherships like the one in Chapter 2: Season 7, Cube Monsters, and Caretakers to destroy the Island and the Loopers on it. However, The Foundation rescued Agent Jones from Doctor Slone and started to flip the island over 180 degrees in order to close the rift. The Cube Queen was defeated by coming in contact with water, resulting in the destruction of The Pyramid and defeat of The Last Reality as a whole*. Once the island was flipped over, a whole new island was revealed as a tidal wave hit the looper, and they went adrift.
Welcome to Chapter 3[]
After drifting in the ocean for approximately 18 hours, the Looper gets casted away in a small isle east of Sanctuary. There, the Looper awakens and passes by Ronin, sitting in a rock sharpening the Blade of the Waning Moon, and Harlowe, sitting in a fence. After passing by them, the Looper finds more people (Shanta, Gumbo, and Haven) around a campfire. The Looper sits near the campfire and The Foundation explains to the Looper that, while the Imagined Order still have possession of the Zero Point, they will always face threats such as The Last Reality, and possibly even worse. He continues telling them that as long as the IO keeps exploiting the Zero Point, everything is in danger. This is why he needs their help to destroy the Imagined Order to set the Zero Point free as well as freeing themselves from the Island and ultimately, from The Loop for good so that everyone can go home.
The Storyline[]
Following the flip of the Island, The Scientist attempts to convince The Seven to bring The Paradigm back to the Island. However, most of them do not trust her and refuse to work with her. The Scientist states in an audio log that the flip of the Island was only the first part of a "scrupulously planned attack" that would've reduced the Imagined Order to ashes, but the invasion of The Last Reality hindered that, leaving The Seven "exposed and overextended". He now believes that if the IO attacked them in the vulnerable state they are in, it could result in the destruction of The Seven.
Meanwhile, the Imagined Order starts drilling from the downward-facing side of the Island upward, causing seismic activity to occur across the surface of the Island. They also set up 5 bases throughout the Island. The Scientist attempts to send Rockets to space in order to retrieve what he describes as "war-time essentials", but is repeatedly sabotaged by Imagined Order. After multiple attempts he is able to retrieve the supplies from space along with a black box containing a secret message from The Paradigm, which reveals that she has received his messages and is on her way to the Island.
After some time the full-force of the IO makes it to the surface of the Island and creates a base inside the Pinnacle Peak, where their main drill is also located. The Scientist as well as the rest of The Seven begin preparing for the arrival of The Paradigm as well as the imminent battle against the Imagined Order.
How did it end?[]
The Imagined Order started using their main drill to drill under the Island, causing heavy earthquakes to happen in the Island, and creating sinkholes in the Island, trying to find The Seven's weak spot.

- January 9th: The IO have drilled a way to the Island west of Greasy Grove and have set a base in the site.
- January 10th: Most of the snow has melted in the desert, and it is now closer to Sleepy Sound and halfway through Coney Crossroads.
Content Update v19.01 #2 (January 11th 2022)[]
- Due to the mission involving the Rocket being unsuccessful, it has returned to the Launchpad and the hatch has been closed.
- January 13th: The snow has melted once again; It has fully melted in the desert and Coney Crossroads. It is now halfway through Sleepy Sound, and is close to Greasy Grove.
- January 16th: The snow has melted a bit in Sleepy Sound and has completely melted in Greasy Grove, the snow is now closer to Frosty Fields
Update v19.10 (January 18th 2022)[]
- The snow has further melted and the ice at Frosty Fields has thawed, revealing Tilted Towers. The snow has fully melted at Sleepy Sound now closer to Camp Cuddle and Logjam Lumberyard.
- A dig site was created on a hill southeast of Tilted Towers, revealing the skeleton of The Devourer creature, a landmark called "The Devoured".
- A Seven-themed hut appeared near the spawn place of Haven.
- The equipment at Mole Teams have been upgraded, and Scanner devices appeared there.
- All Christmas decorations have been removed from Sgt. Winter's Workshop.
- All Christmas decor was removed from Crackshot's Cabin, it's windows were boarded up and it was abandoned.

- The Imagined Order has drilled inside Pinnacle Peak and set a base inside the mountain, named Covert Cavern.
- The IO started patrolling around the Island on a black car, attacking any player in sight.
- The snow has completely melted at Shifty Shafts.
- A roof piece was added on the street next to SofDeez in Coney Crossroads.
- The vacant store in construction in Condo Canyon has become a Dumpling restaurant.
- February 2nd: The IO has drilled a way into the Island south of Coney Crossroads and have set a base in the site.
- February 8th: Due to the mission involving the Rocket being once again unsuccessful, it has returned to the Launchpad and the hatch has been closed.
- February 11th: The IO has drilled a way into the Island south of The Joneses and have set their last base in the site. The initial of each base spells the word "ORDER".
Update v19.30 (February 15th 2022)[]
- February 16th: The IO has started drilling below the Island, causing earthquakes to happen inside Covert Cavern. (See The Earthquakes)
- February 17 - 18th: The Earthquakes have moved outside of Covert Cavern, creating several cracks in the road south of Covert Cavern.
- February 19 - 20th: The Earthquakes have moved further down the road close to the bridge, creating more cracks in the road.
Content Update v19.30 (February 22nd 2022)[]
- The Earthquakes have moved across the bridge, creating multiple cracks in the road near the bridge and to the front of the Coffee Shop.
- February 23rd - 24th: The Earthquakes have moved even closer to the Coffee Shop, damaging it.
- February 25th:
- A third Rocket has emerged at the Launchpad.
- The Earthquakes have stopped.
- February 26th:
- Due to the Earthquakes, a sinkhole formed below the Coffee Shop, completely destroying the Coffee Shop.
- The Earthquakes have resumed, moving west of the sinkhole and creating some cracks in the road.
- February 27th:
- The third Rocket has launched.
- The Earthquakes have reached the Gas Station next to Tilted Towers, creating cracks in the road.

Trivia[]
- The View from Afar and Deep Freeze's IDs contained S20 during development; possibly confirming the existence of one more Chapter 2 season, and that Chapter 3: Season 1 was originally meant to be Season 20 of Battle Royale.[1]
- This was the first full season where those who used China's Fortnite servers were not able to access the game. This is due to Fortnite: China's shutdown.
- Unlike other seasons, Chapter 3: Season 1 did not have a cinematic trailer, making it the first to not have one since Chapter 1: Season 3.
- Mark Rein's teaser word for Chapter 3: Season 1 was "Sliding." He waited until after launch to announce it, as it was a huge component of the season.
- This was the first season of Fortnite to start on a Sunday.
- Originally, the season would start December 7th, but due to the Battle Pass Trailer being leaked by the Polish Fortnite Youtube Channel accidentally, it was moved up to the 5th.
- This season was the first season to vault all weapons from the previous season.
- Almost all items have been vaulted, with only a few exceptions: all healing items, the Fishing Rod/Pro Fishing Rod, Grenades, Firefly Jar, Armored Wall, Harpoon Gun, Rusty Can, and Mythic Goldfish.
- A few Exotic Weapons have remained available; The Dub and the Marksman Six Shooter continue to be readily sold. Also, the Shadow Tracker and the Dragon's Breath Sniper are technically not vaulted, as they may be obtained as rare drops from a Malfunctioning Vending Machine.
- Just as Chapter 2: Season 5 did, the Chapter 1 locations that have survived to the new map are in their exact locations as they originally were, for example Loot Lake or The Volcano.
- An exception to this is Shifty Shafts, being north of Loot Lake despite being south of Tilted Towers in Athena.
- Considering the name of the new map, and Apollo and Artemis being twins in Greek mythology, it could have been surmised that the existence of a second battle arena on the other side of the first was hinted at ever since Chapter 2 started.
- It was the first, and currently only Fortnite season with the Klombo.
- It should be noted that the animation of the Defeat of the Cube Queen in The End appears to have shown the Cube Queen teleporting away. It's unknown whether this was a bug or intended.
- This was the first season since Chapter 2: Season 3 where the game was ever made available to iOS or MacOS users, though this required sign up for closed beta.
