Yum! This hit the spot after a hike in the palisades.
Found in the Mitsuwa food court, with plentiful parking. Place your order at the counter, and they call your number when your order is ready. Self bussing your trays. No water cups, they sell bottled water.
The chasu was fatty and tender, the noodles al dente and the broth flavorful. The broth was a bit salty for me, but otherwise, this was a lovely lunch.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ramon V.Los Angeles, CA15411Feb 17, 2024
Years later, I've moved further towards NELA, and Santouka is still worth the trip.
I ordered the shio with extra pork. The broth is thick how I like it, but after all the other ramen I've had, I now look for a clearer porky/bony/tonkotsu flavor.
Forgot to order egg last time I went.
Mitsuwa is always a nice market to visit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eddy L.San Diego, CA0482Jan 30, 2024
The most C-tier Ramen I've ever had.
I had a salt pork ramen, and my brother had the miso ramen.
Both broths wasn't good...
The noodles were alright, and the portions were not bad for a Japanese-owned restaurant.
I was expecting much less.
And the chashu/pork slices did not taste good.
Service is normal. Its a cafeteria, after all.
You'd be an uptight moron to expect more.
They're polite, what more do you want.
Ambiance? It's a cafeteria; you eat, and you gtfo.
If you've never had Japanese style ramen, this place is totally Weeb friendly.
But if you eat authentic ramen a lot, I don't recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 92335Jan 23, 2024
I love this place! This place has different ramen options + bowl sizes to choose from. I always find myself craving their delicious Spicy Miso Ramen with chashu. The Spicy Miso Ramen is the perfect level of spicy where you can still enjoy your food without having to chug water in between bites. The broth is creamy and well seasoned and the chashu pork is perfectly soft and melts in your mouth. The best part about this ramen is the combination of flavors from the different parts of the ramen. The broth, the chashu, and the ramen tie so well together.
This place is located inside the Mitsuwa food court. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot and orders usually take around 10-15 minutes to complete. While waiting for my food, I usually make a quick round in the marketplace. There's so much to see!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ayrn T.Los Angeles, CA1977042Apr 14, 2024
As a loyal patron of Santouka Ramen for over 15 years, I can confidently say that it offers the most authentic Japanese ramen experience in West LA. My go-to order is always the large Shoyu Ramen with a side of chashu. The rich broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and tender chashu never disappoint. I like to add a kick of spice with their chili oil, which elevates the flavor even more. The consistency and quality of their ramen have kept me coming back time and time again. Santouka remains my top choice for a satisfying and authentic ramen experience.

This place is legit! Lots of free parking since it's inside a grocery market. So many options of bomb asian foods in the market. I wish there was one closer to the east side since I don't live around here.
The cashier/order taker guy wearing a green bandana today was super sweet and helpful. Inside the market is very clean. You can tell they take very good care of this market. I mean, wow. I got my food to go. I would love to stay here and try out the other options!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 27, 2023
I do really love eating Ramen, it's so hearty and delicious, just gives that comfort food feeling. However I don't care for pork or pork broth so there are fewer options when it comes to getting a good bowl of broth. Here they serve mostly pork based broth, so hoping that they increase their other vegan/vegetarian options in the future. My family & friends seem to enjoy their traditional bowls and the ramen is cooked well with just enough chew to it. They are definitely busy, so you know it's clean and good. Communal casual seating & free parking lot.

It's a pretty solid ramen joint tucked away inside of the Mitsuwa food court. The ramen here is a good and consistent solid place to eat at to get your ramen fix without needing to deal with the insane waits at Sawtelle. I would say the ramen quality of probably pretty on par with other Sawtelle ramen joints. It's also a pretty good price as well. I would occasionally go if I'm craving ramen and in the area.
