Wout van Aert had said ahead of the Tour de France that he would abandon the race if the birth of his second child was imminent. Timing was perfect for Jumbo-Visma as it was the day after the Alps ended, and in the same day the Belgian has become a father for the second time.
His wife Sarah de Bie has shared a post on Instagram revealing that the birth took place this Thursday, hours after van Aert's departure from the Tour. After helping Jonas Vingegaard to what is most likely a second Tour de France win, van Aert goes home to meet Jerome.
