'I am NOT Che Diaz!' OITNB star Lea DeLaria issues cheeky 'public service announcement' after fans compared her to nonbinary character from And Just Like That...

Lea DeLaria issued a tongue-in-cheek public service announcement on her social media this Wednesday.

The 63-year-old lesbian comic posted a video in which she deadpanned: 'Just wanna put it out there - I'm not Che Diaz. Thank you for your time.'

Che Diaz is the nonbinary character played by Sara Ramirez on the new Sex And The City spin-off series And Just Like That....

Fans on Twitter have been comparing DeLaria to the character since last year on social media, with one even commenting: 'Che Diaz should have been played by Lea DeLaria and Lea DeLaria should have just played herself.'

After posting her video, fans still joked about the similarities, writing: "Aren't you though?' with another writing: 'You're not? But, I had plans to attend your comedy concert. '

One person quipped: 'Okay but have we ever seen you & Che Diaz in the same room at the same time?!'

In her new video, Lea was even sporting a haircut similar to the one Sara has while portraying Che on the television series.

Che is the boss of Sarah Jessica Parker's character Carrie Bradshaw, who was a sex columnist on the original show and now stars on a podcast.

Over the course of the first season of And Just Like That..., Che begins an affair with Cynthia Nixon's character Miranda Hobbes.

Although Miranda was previously only shown dating men, Cynthia in real life is married to a woman named Christine Marinoni.

Miranda's affair with Che takes off despite the fact she is still married to David Eigenberg's character Steve from the original series.

Cynthia directed episode six of And Just Like That..., Diwali, where she depicted a sizzling erotic fantasy Miranda has about Che. 

And Just Like That... premiered on HBO Max in December, reuniting Cynthia and Sarah Jessica with their Sex And The City co-star Kristin Davis.

However the new series has gone on without Kim Cattrall, who completed the main foursome on the original show but declined to return for the revival.

Kim has been rumored for years to have had strained relations with the rest of the cast, in particular Sarah Jessica.

And Just Like That... has been beset by controversy, including allegations of sexual misconduct that emerged about one of its stars Chris Noth.

Chris' character Mr. Big, who is married to Sarah Jessica's character Carrie, was killed off on an episode of And Just Like That... shortly before the accusations surfaced.

For his part Chris has adamantly denied the allegations, which include sexual assault, but he has been dropped by his agency.
