Sao Paulo now has a hop-on hop-off bus

here is announcement about the new hop-on hop-off tourist bus service [of course, as the city is huge, it only covers a few areas]:

"The Sightseeing SP was especially designed for you to explore São Paulo in a comfortable and safe way. The possibility of unlimited hop on and hop off throughout the circuit allows you to know the main attractions that the city has to offer. The tour provides information about the history, architecture and culture of the city. While you enjoy the view, you get to know more about the incredible destination that is São Paulo!

price: R$ 40

Tickets sold only inside the bus. Accept payments in cash and debit and credit cards.

Valid for 24 hours starting from 1st use, with unlimited hop on - hop off during service operation.

Audio system with touristic information. Languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish

3 daily departures: 9am; 12:40; 4pm from first stop (Luz station) - except on Sundays. It is possible to embark on any of the circuit stops.

Sunday schedule: departures at 10 am, 1:40 pm and 4 pm from stop 1 - Luz. Alternative route on sundays (as it does NOT pass through Paulista Avenue on that day - it is closed for traffic).

I like the route. But for some trying to visit Vila Madalena, prepare to walk a good distance up and down. Parque Ibirapuera, Paulista and the Mercado are a must stop!

This is wonderful news! I will be in SP next week and mostly on my own, so I will add this to my list of things to do.

this Friday late afternoon I saw the double decker bus on the streets (it must have been the 4pm departure)... however, it was NOT on the regular weekday/Sat route, but rather on the Sunday-only route (which skips Av Paulista)...

dont know if it was a one-off situation; but I would enquire when boarding about the route, particularly if you plan to get off at the Av Paulista stops. (or use the real-time locator app if you plan to board on Paulista)

it is a brand new service and website says it is "experimental", so there may be some tweaking around taking place.

Not much use as there are only 3 departures a day. It should be a one-bus-an-hour affair, like in London. Based on the SP system, each stopover would be a matter of hours; in London, you could see Hyde Park and Marble Arch, for example, during the one hour between buses. The system in Curitiba is also much better than SP, 25 stops with hourly departures.

I was in Sao Paulo earlier this month and had hoped to use the HOHO bus. The concierge at the hotel where I stayed said that she had not heard of it. So instead, I took Uber everywhere and it worked out beautifully. I must say that out of the 7 South American countries I have visited, the Brazilians (or at least those in Sao Paulo) have been the friendliest and the most helpful.

9. Re: Sao Paulo now has a hop-on hop-off bus

Price of Uber is cheap, you could go from Paulista to Ibirapuera Park for around R$ 13,00 (3 km).

From Ibirapuera, it would cost around around R$ 20,00 to get to the museum Pinacoteca (around 9 km).
