This resort made our first family trip to Key West a very memorable and relaxing one. From my initial phone conversation with Matilda (front desk staff) regarding room reservations, I realized right away that customer satisfaction is a huge priority. She was extremely helpful in assisting with our room selection, giving tips on the local area, and offering current rules on how to stay safe during the reopening phase of the pandemic. Upon our arrival, we found the resort to be beautiful, clean, and in the perfect location (walking distance) to experience the fun of Duval Street along with the Southernmost attractions. We chose the split level floor plan with a pool view for our family of five that had a queen bed in two separate rooms, a sleeper sofa in the living room, 2 1/2 bathrooms, washer and dryer unit, kitchen, 2 balconies, and parking was included. Our family enjoyed the free smoothies down by the pool too. Overall, the resort is impressive, and we look forward to a future stay. For your vacation to Key West, we highly recommend Santa Maria Suites!

The service at Santa Maria Suites Hotel in Key West was outstanding. From the desk to the housekeeping staff we never had a need that was not met. We totally enjoyed our stay and the accommodations were very nice. The bedrooms and baths were a bit small but there were only two of us so we enjoyed our own private space. The beds were very comfortable and I wish I had taken the names of the linens to purchase some myself.
Don't worry about being hungry if you stay there: besides daily offerings of muffins & coffee, dove bars and happy hours you will well fed.

Santa Maria Suites was the perfect spot for our group of 9 (two families) staff arranged for our suites to be located directly next to each other. We had the two bedroom, two bath suite which made for plenty of space for all. The entire property was clean & we noticed all staff going extra lengths wiping things down, providing hand sanitizer & masks. The location is great for getting to main streets (lots of restaurant choices) & or the beach, so much to do near by. We will def. book again!

This is my 3rd or 4th time visiting the hotel. I think over the years the hotel has taken a hit and instead of improving, it slowly but surely declined with both the amenities as well as customer service. For a $500+ a night, the bed sheets and towels look and feel similar to a two star hotel accommodation. The pool, although still nice, needs a renovation; tiles are moving, missing night light etc. The outside is also deteriorating; dirty chairs, stained walls, and unkept pathways. What really took a hit though is the customer service: zero appreciation from the front staff, no room service, and little to no effort to make sure the customer is happy. It did not feel like I was staying in a luxury resort which is what I believe it used to feel like. Overall a C experience and will most likely not come back. The resort lacks the common amenities such as a beach and hot tub as well but it was always like that so that should not come as a surprise. Currently you can find a better deal with better amenities for similar price.

Feb21-24 50th birthday couples trip. Upon arrival we found champagne on ice with a beautiful birthday note from the staff. We booked pool view , lower unit. Plenty of entertaining room . Wine Refrigerator, ice was easy to get and store in freezer, 3ceiling fans, 2 different coffee pots, best part... inside washer and dryer meant Clean swim suit everyday! Fresh pool towels & drinking water throughout the day. 2 room services a day (be sure to tip, they deserve it) with Fresh muffins, ice cream, chocolates, bottled water, coffee everyday. Staff was friendly with one exception ( 8pm man at front desk on 2/24) staff followed all COVID rules , we felt safe. Walking distance to beach , a great wine bar down the street , as well as a Cuban breakfast ‘store on corner. The only thing that was not described correctly was one king room had the bathroom inside, the other rooms bathroom was in the hallway outside of the bedroom &Very small. Plenty of parking. Restaurant and bar on property. I would recommend this resort hands down.

The Santa Maria Suites and staff continue to provide one of the best places to stay when visiting Key West. The staff is attentive and caring and the facility is clean and well appointed. The location is perfect as you are able to walk to the chaos of Duval St and enjoy the quiet of the east end the rest of the time.

Clean, beautiful suite. Pool was clean and plenty of chair covers and towels. The muffins and dove bars were very much loved by my family. Happy hour by the pool was awesome...usually the free wine offerings aren’t very good but these were nice quality. Free smoothies are exactly what you’d expect for kids...sugary and cold. They loved them.
And the staff here was very COVID compliant. Masks on, room servicing done with guests out of room (easy enough when you can just walk over to the pool or sit out on your own little patio) any questions we had were easily answered by the front desk, which picked up calls quickly. We did have an issue with the ac from the unit upstairs leaking into our room, but they sent someone right away to deal with the issue.
Yeah the beach is covered with sargassum. But honestly Key West isn’t known for beaches anyway. you might need to look for a different destination or drive over to Bahia Honda state park for a beach.

Just retuned last weekend from Key West and stayed at Santa Maria Suites. We took our adult son who was visiting us in FL for a couple weeks from NYC. We were all impressed with this boutique hotel which has 2 bedroom suites, a full kitchen and sitting area where we could hang out together for a happy hour drink before going to dinner,
Upon checking in we were warmly greeted by Tony and staff. They upgraded our room and allowed for a late check. All the staff there were very accommodating We really enjoyed Key West and this lovely hotel and would highly recommend this place. Plus another bonus, they give you complimentary Dove ice bars and delicious muffins!

Great location near the “quiet” end of Duvall Street. Brilliantly equipped self catering facilities, comfy beds and nice extras like the muffins delivered daily. Staff varied from the super friendly (mainly room service and reception) to those who could barely raise a smile (some but not all of the pool staff - the guy on our first day was great). Rooms a little on the small side in the split level apartments (fine for single occupation but would be cramped for a couple). I don’t judge my holidays on the ability to do laundry but the washing facilities are a bit of a bonus!
Showers had poor pressure. But the most annoying thing was the music in the beautiful pool area. I found it too loud and very intrusive and did request for it to be turned down but it would quickly go back up again so I assume other guests enjoyed it. I found it ruined the pool area and was completely unnecessary. Started at 11am every morning so if you have a pool view forget a peaceful balcony morning coffee. 6pm was bliss when it was turned off. The pool area, although lovely, is a little cramped with sunbeds. If the place was at full occupancy it would probably be unbearable for me. Even, as it was we opted to not spend too much time by the pool. But maybe we were just being grumpy about it.
Depending on how you look at this it’s either reasonable value for money or on the expensive side. We treated ourselves to having a whole apartment between the two of us so we could have a room each which made it expensive compared to standard self catering facilities. For a family of 4 or 2 couples it would be better value (but would recommend the apartments on one floor as the split level are smaller). The ground floor apartments though aren’t particularly private if you have pool view. Be aware that the photos of the big open plan kitchens you see online are not from the split level apartments but the single level ones only (we knew this but overheard some people walking round complaining as they didn’t). The split level kitchens are still brilliantly equipped but smaller and not such a nice layout.
I don’t think the pool view is worth the extra money. If I came back I would go for a garden view for more peace and privacy.

There is another larger beach -Higgs Beach -about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, with public restrooms, a restaurant, chairs and umbrella rentals. Our family preferred this one.
All our showers in the ground floor flats only have overhead shower heads.
