This was a splurge for us as it was our anniversary. I'm only giving this hotel four stars because of a few things that could be easily fixed. But it's a beatiful hotel with a fantastic restaurant and it is in a superb location. A couple of things that make it not a five star: They should have refillable bath wash/shampoo/conditioner/hand soaps in the bathrooms, better for the environment and less chance of running out of it, which we did. In-room coffee and tea. There is none. This is just their way of making you go downstairs to either A, use their restaurant; B, use room service, or C; walk down to the lobby to get it yourself. This is an easy fix and probably the most annoying of them all. But I get it from a business perspective. If you have a room overlooking the park/ocean on the 2nd floor, keep in mind there is a concrete barrier and you cannot see the ocean if you are on the patio sitting at the table. A hightop table would be an easy fix and your guests would want to hang out there and order food from room service, etc. But for $450 a night, this is not a five star setup. Location is fantastic, one block from beach, but the park/ocean rooms face Milpas Street and it's a cut-through for lots of vehicles so there's tons of traffic noise. It's still a great view, but just keep that in mind when you're booking. Cabrillo is also a busy street, which runs along the beachfront and hotel front, with lots of activity, but it can get loud at times. The hotel sits across the street from the beach, which is super convenient. Overall, this is a really nice hotel, fantastic restaurant, fantastic staff, excellent location and easy 20 minute walking to the Funk Zone of SB.

Having stayed in numerous hotels in the area I can this has been the best thus far. The location is great, nestled in a mini palm forest along the beautiful beach road, the beach at a stone throw away and the Pacific so close you hear the waves, this is a quintessential Santa Barbara hotel. But perhaps the stand out is that the management really pays attention to the small details. They really care and make sure you feel it. We had a studio and it was spacious with an oversized bathroom with all the amenities you could think of. Luxurious feeling throughout and soft bed linens. A wonderful balcony with the best view, you’d think you’re in the Caribbean or some other exotic location. Never dined at Convivo, their fancy restaurant, and wish we did but had commitments elsewhere. Its a bit old school of a hotel but that’s probably why I liked it, not falling victim to the latest craze in the hotel biz, be it decor or other factors (to be hip). If you’ve been around like we have, you’ll notice the quality when you see it. This will be my choice in Santa Barbara next time!

After helping our daughter for ten days with two toddlers, we were ready to relax, and the Santa Barbara Inn was just perfect. Breakfast oceanside every morning at Convivo, followed by walks on the beach and into the Funk Zone was great fun. We highly recommend the Charcoal Prawns appetizer for a midday snack. Even without requesting service, our room was always refreshed while we were at breakfast. Our room was nicely furnished with lovely art on the wall. Bathrooms are large—we especially appreciated the double sink. All the ocean view rooms were booked but we enjoyed the mountains from our balcony. The zoo is just a short walk away and was lots of fun. We are already looking forward to our next stay at this lovely boutique hotel.

Been here several times now and have always enjoyed this hotel. The location is great since it is an easy walk to downtown, but not in the middle of it. Recently several restaurants have opened up around the hotel, but the hotel's restaurant Convivo is a favorite. Valet parking is easy and catching UBER is also quick if you don't want to drive. The room we had had a fabulous view of the ocean where we could watch migrating porpoises right out our window and balcony. If you are celebrating a special occasion they provide you with several treats, a bottle of wine, and a nice card. Really like the texting service asking if everything was ok and it is an easy to ask for any special requests. Housekeeping was daily and you could specify a time so that you knew when your room was being cleaned. A wonderful stay and we plan to be back.

I've written many reviews on TA, most of them very positive. Not this one. Our room at SBI was very nice, overlooking the beach. But for $555 a night, I do NOT expect to pay an extra $26 to have my car parked EACH NIGHT (even when I didn't use it during the day). I do NOT expect to have to walk roughly 75 yards to the lobby each morning to get complimentary coffee in paper cups (no coffee machines in the rooms). I DO expect to find glasses for wine and/or cocktails in the room... nope, had to call down to the bar to get them brought up. I DO expect to find SOME kind of welcome treat, like nuts or chocolates... nope, not here! I recognize that with their location, they can charge a bit extra compared to other hotels, but this was just grand larceny, in my opinion. Highly not recommended.

We spent three nights in this lovely hotel. The staff was very friendly and kept the hotel and grounds immaculate. The view of the beach from the balcony was great. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The gym looked brand new! The food at Convivo was top notch! The only downsides were not having a coffee maker in the room. It was a minor inconvenience to get dressed to get coffee in the morning. I brought tea, hoping to make that in the room, but the room did not have a microwave. We ordered a glass of wine to enjoy at the pool. I completely understand that you do not want glass around the pool. Being so close in proximity to wine regions, the hotel has a great wine selection. It would have been nicer to enjoy my wine pool side, in a proper plastic “wine glass” versus basically a plastic solo cup. Location is great. 15-20 minute walk to the Funk Zone. 30 min down the beach boardwalk to Stern’s Wharf. There is a Santa Barbara Bcycle rack right outside of the hotel for rental. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel!

the staff is unhelpful, it is overpriced and VERY inconvenient the rooms have no amenities, you have to go two floors down to get ice You have to go down to the lobby to get "complementary coffee" they overcharge you a $150.00 "deposit" against "amenities, at check out even it you did not spend it, you do not get it back to your credit card the day you check out. When you call to complain it says "your bank will refund it within 3 - 10 business days" and give you a nasty attitude the rooms are cold, the bellman does not show you how to use or adjust the climate controls which are locked and can't be adjusted. Do not bother, When I went to their small breakfast room to use my $15.00 credit I asked a server to give me change for a $5.00 bill, she said the manager would have to open the safe for her!!! Nothing about this place is worth it. Avoid at all costs

Stayed here for a wonderful three night stay. We booked directly through the hotel and when we arrived, they rewarded us with a room upgrade and a daily lunch or breakfast credit. The room was spectacular with plenty of space and a beautiful view of the beach/ocean. It also had a large whirlpool bathtub. We ate breakfast each morning at the restaurant, prices were reasonable and they had a good variety of traditional breakfast dishes plus unique offerings. The pool area was nice but unfortunately it was cold during our stay so we didn't use it. The fitness center is small but wasn't crowded and had everything we needed. Wi-Fi worked well. What really set this hotel apart was the staff. Every interaction we had, from the valet to the front desk to the restaurant to housekeeping was extremely friendly. Everyone seemed to go out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The only real negative is that it is about a 20 minute walk to the downtown Santa Barbara area, so we just drove to go to dinner or visit other attractions. I would definitely stay here again on a future visit to the area.

I had high hopes for my stay in Santa Barbara. We checked in and our room smelled musty. A maintenance person came in and sprayed Air freshener. At my request we were moved to a new room which had a musty smell too! At that point we decided to keep the sliding door open which worked just fine. Except that our room was in the back of the hotel and the garbage truck woke us up at 7:00 am picking up the hotel trash plus every time the staff from the restaurant dumped trash we heard that too. When we got up to take a shower the tub drained slow, which the hotel quickly fixed, and a few of the outlets didn’t work when I tried to blow dry my hair. The valets were awesome and the beach was right across the street which was perfect! We walked to The Funk Zone and the downtown which was great too.

I stayed this past weekend with my husband and my mother. We had one king ocean view and a regular king room, both very well appointed. We were genuinely impressed by this hotel, and especially how they handled COVID. Masks were worn by guests and staff, and never once did we feel unsafe. The rooms were absolutely spotless, with great decor and amazing views (and large balconies); both breakfast and dinner were fantastic - one of the best hotel breakfasts we've ever had in the states. The room service was excellent as well! The hotel in general has obviously been recently updated / renovated and they did a wonderful job capturing the classic SB look with some flare. It happened to be very hot when we were in SB, so we stayed mostly at the pool and in the ocean. Pool was lovely - not too crowded and not too loud either! Can't wait to go back!

I saw a few homeless people further down the beach but none near the Santa Barbara Inn. The area around the hotel was very clean and safe. The valet crew is very close to the street.
