When Steamboat made his WWE debut in 1985, he was assigned the babyface persona known as “the Dragon,” which he used for the duration of his career. 

He participated in the first-ever WrestleMania, winning against Matt Borne. 

In a televised program of WWF Championship Wrestling, Muraco attacked Steamboat before the bell rang, preventing the scheduled match from taking place.

Tito Santana and the Junkyard Dog came to Steamboat’s rescue after his defeat, but not before Muraco and Fuji used Steamboat’s black belt from karate to hang him outside the ring from the top rope.

Disagreement with Chris Jericho

2009 saw the induction of Steamboat as one of the participants into the WWE Hall of Fame. 

Chris Jericho blasted Steamboat following the announcement, sparking a conflict between him and the Hall of Famers. 

At WrestleMania 25, Steamboat made his ring comeback alongside Piper and Snuka to face Jericho in his first match in almost fifteen years. 

Snuka and Piper suffered quick defeats, but Steamboat held his own against Jericho, looking impressive considering his age and even executing some of his signature moves.

Ultimately, Jericho emerged victorious in the fight, with widespread praise for Steamboat’s efforts.

Like his father, Richard Blood Jr. is a professional wrestler. Under the ring moniker Richie Steamboat, he made his debut on July 25, 2008. 

In addition to winning the Jack Brisco 15 Championship, the Florida Heavyweight Championship, and the Florida Tag Team Championship, Richie was the second FCW Grand Slam Champion.
