What travelers are saying
- Amy P77 contributionsA fun place to wander for a morning or afternoon. Soak in the gardens and water features. Learn about the history and architecture along the way. The hop-on-and-off bus/trolley will stop here regularly.Written August 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wren52681Gaithersburg, MD256 contributionsArrived at children's pool beach to see the seals. It was about 5:30 when I arrived and when we got there, there were about 20 seals sleeping on the beach. They were so cute, and then some awful human being snuck up on them from the rocks and scared them and they all slid into the water. The beach is closed this time of year because it is pupping season, and they don't want the seals to be bothered. I am lucky I got there when I did because if I had arrived just 5 minutes later, they would have been gone.Written January 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - extravelagentHonolulu, HI409 contributionsWent with my daughter. It was pretty fun. Kinda pricey though. $50+ for an adult and student? I guess it was free parking so that helped. I liked the commercial airlines memorabilia and the aviation wings collection. Fun displays. Our favorite was the theatre that had the 3D movies with seat movement. Pretty cool.
We spent about 1.5 hours there, I think that was enough. Not overly crowded as it was supposed to rain but I would hate to see it on a weekend. The replica planes outside were also cool.
Would I come back? I probably would with grandkids as there are lots to look at.Written April 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not the most amazing quality of sculpture or statue, but still worth the walk up to see.Written April 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NANCY K1 contributionVery quiet and peaceful place to stay away from the action but close to the airport. Bay Club Marina Hotel is a great option with a restaurant, views and a nice pool. Just be aware of it is a foggy morning you will hear boat foghorns at 6a.m.Written August 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rosa M2 contributionsAwesome and up close view of wildlife, sea lions, seals, pelicans and other numerous birds. Hike to the cliffs and view kayakers approaching the sea caves. Make sure to visit the Cave Store and take the stairs to access the sea cave.
Numerous restaurants dot the area. Gelato stores are a must.Written January 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Brands like Puma, Nautica, Sketchers etc. When we were there, it was President's day big sale weekend hence many shops offer 50-80% discount so overall quite a good deal!
Washroom cleanliness well-maintained.
There are several food trucks outside so some budget eats are available.
Moreover, from the car park you can actually see the other side of the country - it is a Mexico-US border!Written March 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We saw dozens of beautiful bright green sea anemone as well as many sea snails and really interesting and unique sea shells. Our 10 year old daughter had such a great day at the tide pools with her friends, and this makes for a fun and inexpensive experience in the San Diego area.Written April 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeff SPerth, Australia1,288 contributionsI know nothing about model railways but a friend wanted to go. I had a hard time keeping up with him on the walk in!
Once inside I thought “ok this is cool,” thinking I could see it all from one spot. How wrong I was. This place is massive. It just keeps going.
I started looking at details and saw details within details, and found myself mesmerised with the craftsmanship and effort that’s gone into these displays. Right down to every fence post and the escapee chickens… it was incredible.
I love how you get small glimpses of what’s behind the scenes and how they build the landscapes and electrics.
If you go, don’t rush. Pick a small section when you walk in and look really closely at the detail. It’s so much more than just a big train set 👍Written March 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wireless_in_CAUnited States5,040 contributionsWe found street parking by the Del Mar Canyon Preserve and was able to pay a reasonable hourly rate instead of the flat rate in the parking lot.
It took us around 10 minutes to get to the beach. We took a short cut down that crossed over the railroad tracks. Not as nice compared to the beach parking lot but not difficult to navigate.
The beach itself was expansive and not crowded at all. The views were beautiful as we wandered on the soft sand.Written December 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The food court offers enough to choose from. Take the tram from Downtown San Diego to get there, it’s very easy.Written June 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DiogenesInSDSan Diego, CA10 contributionsGreat theater that often gets shows right before they head to Broadway. Great opportunity to see them without having to go to NYC! - colombiajanSaint Albans, WV195 contributionsThis mission is beautiful. We were there on a Sunday so we heard part of a beautiful mass. The grounds were beautiful and the museum had a lot of historical information. They also had a nice gift shop. It was a wonderful idea to visit this mission on our trip to California. I would recommend it for couples and for families with children.Written June 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
