- MrsPiketRotterdam, The Netherlands2,507 contributionsThe Mozarteum is located next to the Mirabell Gardens and has 2 concert halls: the Great Hall with 791 seats and the Wiener Hall with 196 seats. The art deco building dates from 1914. In the charmingly old-fashioned entrance foyer you find the cloakroom and the staircases. There is a nice recently built foyer with buffet.
During the Mozart Woche 2023 we came for the Hagen Quartet and 2 chamber orchestra performances. All three concerts were almost sold out. The Hagen Quartet nicely performed KV80, and the Preußisches Streichquartett KV587 & KV590. Recommended.
The Chamber Orchestra of Europe under Orozco-Estrada performed 29 Symphony KV210, the Prague Symphony KV504, and with Seong-Jin Cho Piano Concerto KV466. The orchestra was professional and Orozco-Estrada was a disaster. Swinging back & forth he drove the orchestra to 90dB. So loud that all Mozart’s finesse disappeared. Orozco-Estrada is better in place by directing a Motown orchestra in a football stadium. Pianist Seong-Jin Cho splendidly saved the show.
The next day the Freiburger Barockorchester was a relief. They played brilliantly with Kristian Bezuidenhout on Hammerklavier and performed 10 Symphony KV74, the Jeunehomme Concert KV271, Rondo KV386 and 25 Symphony KV183. Highly recommended.
As always the Salzburg’ audience left a nice impression.Written February 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The vehicle was very interesting, and much more comfortable than the usual DUKW vehicles used elsewhere. A fun way to see the main sites in a pleasant city, especially when the sun is shining!Written October 24, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stirling BOttawa, Canada656 contributionsThe Holy Trinity Church in Salzburg is a beautiful example of Baroque Architecture. We happened upon it on our way from the Train Station to the Old Town. For s9me reason there is a barrier once you enter so we just admired it from just inside the front door. It is a small but quite elegant church.Written January 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

I did have a problem with strolling geitridgasse street, and with the half a day organized trip to hallstt.
Hellbrunn schloss and gardens is a MUST.
Keep in mind that shops in salzburg close at 18:00, and restaurants and cafes close between 18:00 to 20:00.Written December 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Also a few good little passages leading off the square with a couple of nice shops. Rated 4 stars instead of 5 because they need a few benches for folks to sit down and eat their hot dogs/pretzels.Written March 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LostInTimePittsburgh, PA11,864 contributionsThis church is smaller than some of the others in the town. But it’s nice. It’s right at the end of one of the main streets and right up against the wall of rock.Written June 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lyndsay D5 contributionsThis was a truly amazing hotel which is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Salzburg. It’s a wonderful hotel to retreat to after a busy sightseeing day as its tranquility and charm it out of this world being by the lake with view of the snow capped mountains - stunning! I will definitely return.
We only had the cheapest room in the annexe but it was very comfortable and quiet. A bit dark but that was ok you only sleep there!
The main palace of the hotel is where you have the breakfast which I have to say is probably the best setting you can imagine, with views to die for. If you stay here you are so spoilt being allowed to visit the building palace where some of The Sound of Music was filmed. The rooms are stunning. The breakfast is incredible. The staff excellent in every way.
We will definitely be back and we highly recommend.Written April 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The rest of the the museum is unremarkable.Written June 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Valérie2 contributionsWalking through Steingasse street, we found this bar during our stay in Salzburg. The place offers a nice cosy atmosphere with good music and nice drinks. - jamessparsons760Minneapolis, MN1 contributionChristiana Schneeweiss led my family of six on a tour of Salzburg in the first half of June 2016, and we were satisfied with the experience and impressed by her knowledge and her passion for the city. The tour blended driving in a mini-van (a mini-bus would have afforded better views) with walking in the old city. Our guide was at her best in explaining the significance of, and critiquing the architectural value of, the famous cathedral and other structures. Her stance on their meaning in the theological and thus political struggles of their time was thought-provoking, much more so than you expect from a first-time tour. She customized the tour based on our interests expressed in advance, which we appreciated.
To improve the tour, we could have moved less rapidly and seen fewer buildings i.e. in the old city. We arranged the tour by email; our group comprised 3 generations, not easy to accommodate on a tour; Christiana struck a good balance and piqued our interest in Salzburg.Written June 20, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The inside is very grand and elegant, even though the interior decoration is very simple and painted mainly in white.Written March 12, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
