What travelers are saying
- Patti BAlcester, United Kingdom47 contributionsFabulous views from the top of Untersberg... although quite slippy underfoot. We took advice of other reviewers and picked up no 5 bus ... last stop is the cable car station. The cable car is packed but very smooth. A must if you are in Salzburg. Cable cars go every 30 minutes .. on the hour and half hour.Written January 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great views along the way, some steepish bits that we benefitted with our walking poles (the slope parts added to the fun).Written February 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not just the offer of services exceeded our expectations, but the attention to detail, the efficiency, the beauty of the nature that surrounded us left us speechless. The gondola was free with our hotel pass, we had a beautiful walk by the lake to end up for lunch at the Wildkogelhaus. This place was stunning, you can’t miss it if you go there. I would go back without hesitationWritten February 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- sarbeLondon, UK83 contributionsWe had been here before but we didn't notice the little house with all kinds of wood souvenirs. There you can make your own walking stick, the kids pick a branch from a big pile of wood that is the right height for them, they then get a wood peeler to shave the branch and make it nice and smooth. Then the shopowner burns their name unto the stick and adds a leather string to the top of it. The kids really enjoyed this!Written November 19, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- candarmcdLeeds, UK35 contributionsSteep in parts but don’t be put off. Great regional views at the upper forest breakout near sheer cliffs. If icy/snowy use ice overshoes. Allow maybe 3 hours!Written February 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- kangeliniHong Kong, China1,569 contributionsIs a 20 minute drive from Salzburg but it is worth it on a nice day. - kristaincoDenver176 contributionsWe have done this hike each time we have stayed in Bad Hofgastein and hike up to Bad Gastein using the Hohenweg and back using the lower trail. Very surprised to see that it has been closed for months due to repairs on the tunnel section, so it is impossible to walk the full path. When open, this is a beautiful hike. Hoping they get this repaired for next season!Written September 6, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
