I give up and am asking for help. I have just spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out exactly where the tolls are, north and south, so that I can try to find accommodation between them.
Why? Because my assumption is if we enter from the north toll and overnight in Heilgenblut we would have to again pay to head back north on it the next morning. I think the it is outside the tolled area.
Am I correct?
I'm also trying to avoid having to drive the road up and back in one go.
We'll be spending the morning half of the day at Hallstatt after sleeping close by the night before. So that's why I don't want to go up and immediately back. It's not like we've got the entire day to experience it. I'm planning to leave Hallstatt about 1 :30 pm to drive from there to Heilgenblut.
And we need to return our car rental at Salzburg Hbf at 6 pm the next day and don't want to do the round trip on the Grossglockner the next day because it would eat up too much time. We'd like to have a more leisurely drive back to Salzburg after coming back north after breakfast.
Our date is May 12-13 '22.
