We didn’t have a meal at all because they were just about completely out of food! How does a restaurant have no grilled chicken? And out of half the items on the menu. FYI when it’s your last day to be open for the season.... Don’t!! Have a party for your staff to get rid of what’s left instead. Shame! We spent 28 dollars on ferry fare and then were charged for drinks that should have been comped for our inconvenience. Thankfully we found a great place for dinner in Greenport.

This is our favorite restaurant on Shelter Island. The food is always good. The menu offers something for everyone. The fish entree is always fresh and so delicious. Our grandkids love the mussels and the sushi. The staff is very friendly. It is great for waterfront dining.

Great waterfront restaurant. Fish was fresh and tasty and great service. It’s a little over priced but not outrageous considering its location. The carrot cake was a great dessert but not necessarily worth the price tag. Overall I would highly recommend

A definitely enjoyable experience. The lobster rolls were stellar. Packed with fresh, perfectly cooked lobster, with seasonings and flavorings that enhanced the lobster taste. The roll was a hearty and chewy potato roll and the side salad was crisp and flavorful. The fish tacos were perfectly cooked and paired with a delicious relish. Friendly attentive service in a relaxing atmosphere. Bravo!

My wife and I had dinner at SALT last week. The food was excellent, particularly the Fluke special (very fresh fish), and the great Carrot Cake desert. Our waitress was very attentive, and the person clearing our plates was very attentive and timely in doing so. The outdoor table right next to the some boats in a small harbor had great views. The atmosphere was somewhat casual, which was great on a summer night. We were so pleased with the whole experience we stopped by to let the manager know that on the way out. Highly recomend SALT if you are visiting Shelter Island, or nearby on Long Island.

Way to casual an atmosphere and vibe for what I was expecting. Decor and wait staff looked more like a burger joint on the water than a Saturday night restaurant. I actually thought I had the wrong place when i first walked thru the bar to get to the hostess who was in the rear by the water?? Was I supposed to come by boat??

A big thank you to Chef Darren. He took the time to come to our table to recommend options for us since we had two food allergy diners at our table. We took all his recommendations and our meal was excellent. The menu and service has expanded greatly over the years. This was our first time dining there, and it will now become part of our annual trip to Shelter Island. We hope to meet Chef Darren again in the future.

Not good. Undercooked mussels, inedible lobster roll. Wait staff young and inexperienced. When we told them mussels were undercooked the response was, “what do you want, to have them cooked some more?” Not how it works with mussels, dear. Instead we asked for more bread so we could at least enjoy the broth. Bread didn’t come until entrees came, and it was a mountain of bread — which read like an F U. The wine was good, so we ordered more of that and enjoyed ourselves in spite of multiple wait staff continuing to try to clear us before we were done.

We loved the food so much that we returned another night. The shrimp roll was spectacular. Everything we ate actually was delicious. The prices are steep and the noise level if you go later can be severe. But The outdoor breezes and Water views make it really worthwhile.

I gave it 4 stars this time mainly for the service and ambiance. Unfortunately what we ordered was not all that good. My husband had the sushi special which he thought was fairly good despite it not being a big order. I ordered the little neck clams which were fresh. I also ordered a Salt salad which was not good I received a pound of mixed greens and very very little tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions. I also added grilled chicken which was a very small piece that was not very good. My poor husband helped me finished the mixed greens. At the end of the meal we did give our server the feedback and was pleasantly surprised that they took it off the bill. Thank you, especially since it was not worth the cost. In conclusion I have been here in the past with my friends and have had a better experience with their food. I recall enjoying their lobster roll and burger. When in the area I would return and not order the salad.

The food is quite good, a go-to lunch spot. Seems like they are going through a large number of servers, though they are friendly and eager to [pelase, seem somewhat untrained. Twice in one week, I ordered the same thing, Tuna sandwich with fries and crispy bacon, twice they were unable to follow my explicit requests. Tuna, rare, fries crispy, bacon well done (even told them, if I hold up a slice and it falls over, it is not cooked enough. Each time the tune was either well done or very well done. Bacon not cooked enough, fries one time not crispy, the time it was. In the end, it is made right, but each time mine dining partner finished their meals before my corrected meal came out, thereby leaving us both eating separately. View of the water, especially on a nice day, always appreciated!

Spent a very enjoyable Brunch with my new family celebrating my daughters High School Graduation. Great food and service with great ambiance. The picture is their amazing Giant Carrot Cake dessert, yum. Will definitely return.
