Organisms from an Ancient Cosmos: Preview the Graphic Novel From Bone Tomahawk's S. Craig Zahler

Zahler brings his unique voice to the world of science fiction comics.

S. Craig Zahler is nothing if not a multi-talented storyteller. Though probably best known as the writer and director of the 2015 horror Western Bone Tomahawk, Zahler is also a novelist, musician and animator. And with the upcoming release of Organisms From an Ancient Cosmos, he can also add comic book creator to that repertoire.

IGN can debut an exclusive preview of this upcoming sci-fi graphic novel from Dark Horse Comics. Get a closer look in the slideshow gallery below:

Zahler wrote and illustrated this 192-page graphic novel, which deals with the bitter aftermath of a destructive war between humanity and an alien invader. The story isn't so much about the war itself as the quest to understand the motives of these invaders and whether more threats might be lurking out in the stars.

Here's Dark Horse's official summary for Organisms From an Ancient Cosmos:

An alien spacecraft the size of a city materializes over the Pacific Ocean, and the nations of the world jointly engage this enigmatic and incommunicative visitor with force. This battle results in large-scale destruction on both sides, but does not answer any of the questions that will haunt humanity: What are these utterly inhuman creatures? Where did they come from? Why did they choose to visit our planet? And . . . most importantly . . . are more forces on the way? For the bereaved billionaire Carlton Land, renowned biologist Aimee O'Donnell, and the brilliant but blunt USAAF Chief Scientist Kenneth Yamazaki, these questions must be answered in order to safeguard the future of the human race.

Organisms From an Ancient Cosmos is priced at $24.99 and is slated for release on October 18, 2022. You can preorder the book through Amazon and various other retailers.
