I think this song is about a relationship falling apart due to his drug/alcohol addiciton. Further he does not love her but she loves him, and everybody can see it but him. He just holds on to her because he is in need, and he is confusing it with love.

I agree except I think it's HIM that's in love, not his woman.

I think that line refers to him wanting to keep her but his life is too f'd up...and "everybody knows" she's going to leave him, I assume for the guy who "says a name" (hers).

I'm not sure about this one....it seems like it is about faith and the pressures when you are questioning it.

i agree maxie. it reminds me of the same thing. to me i think about faith in God. I feel God is with me in the shit of my life, and he still loves me, and i'm selfish to just come back home with him and let him take me back and fix me. and there are still two of us here, but only one of us in love (i think of God in love with me) anyway...

I agree with trey. It seems he is battling his demons and it's affecting his relationship.

Sometimes the want for the drugs is so bad that it's difficult for him to give anything of himself to this woman.

I'm not worthy of even attempting to peer inside Adams' head, but this song absolutely NAILS the feeling of going through addiction recovery while in a relationship.

Its about him "spinning out of control" and the woman who loves him. He doesn't love her enough to give up his addiction.

To me, it's written by a woman who's thinking of a man who loves her but she can't love him back; "hard to be reciprocating". She wants to. She wants to love him with all of her heart but she doesnt know what the future holds "how am i to know". She thinks of him often, and as soon as she does - she forgets anything else she was thinking of. But how could she hold on to him when her life is spinning out of her control? She cant commit her heart to him and love him back, "only one of us in love".

And.. everybody knows. Everyone around them can see through all there lies. Can see whats between them and the love that is within.
