Excellent farmer's market for produce, plants, meats, and freshly made goods. I am in awe at all of the delicious findings at this market. So many markets these days are filled with ancillary items while the food takes a back seat. No shade to the soap makers, etc. as its nice to have all of that stuff too. I'm just overwhelmed at the bountiful choices of things to eat. I like that the market is in a building but still open air. It makes it more tolerable than being in the hot sun, particularly for those of us who ride our bikes and are happy to have the shade. As is usual, the best pickings are found early. Bring your reusable bags and come support your local growers and artists!

My review is about this venue as an event space.
I attended a networking event at the RO Farmers Market on last week.
I was first pleased with the parking. There's parking surrounding the building as it shares lot space with the municipal offices of the city.
It's quite a large space, great for expos, fairs, etc.
I could even see it as a wedding venue; which it likely is.
The are food services spaces and bathrooms inside of the building, and a nice outdoor sitting/dining space.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lori B.Hazel Park, MI02Feb 4, 2024

Finally made a trip to Royal Oak Farmers Market and it did not disappoint! I lived basically across the street from the farmers market for a full year and never visited, and many years later, I finally manage a visit!
The parking situation is interesting and seems small at first, but I think it's surprisingly a manageable amount of room for the traffic through Royal Oak Farmers Market. It might require a loop or two around either side of the farmers market building through.
What's most attractive about this farmers market is that it's completely indoors, with a handful of vendors just outside the entrances, so this runs basically year round, which I love! It's one giant space inside, completely dog-friendly and there are bathrooms available for use as well! The vendors are lined up table next to table lining the perimeter of the building and a smaller circle in the center, allowing the walkways to be in between these two "circles" and allowing for the ability to loop around the entire building without much thought.
There is a wonderful variety in vendors at the farmers market, plenty of produce-based vendors, organic produce in particular, plant sales, snacks, and more art/craft-based vendors too! They are basically a small version of Eastern Market if you can't make it out to Eastern Market!
I was in a bit of a hurry this first time, so I was only able to do one quick loop around, but I am definitely excited to come back here soon to look in more depth at all that they have to offer because there is a TON! The prices also seem very reasonable as well. Love Royal Oak Farmers Market and I will definitely be coming back again soon, especially throughout the winter months! :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff H.Saint Clair Shores, MI02Nov 28, 2023
There was a vendor named Peter on Sundays Flea Market that was very rude! He was very unprofessional!

Indoor and outdoor Sunday flea market set up. Easy parking and fun quick morning outing. Lots of interesting tables selling their various interesting knickknacks and collectibles. They had a couple of food stands and bathrooms inside the building. We came out to see the crystal booth to view their selection. They had some really cute crystals to for sale. We will be back to check out the Saturday farmers market a different day.

Small compared to eastern market but nice and close and a quick jaunt from the house.
Best on Saturdays during the spring and summer season. Come earlier, it's slim or reduced pickings after 9am.
Sunday is flea market, always interesting to browse the random articles for sale.
I am glad we have this iconic spot in our town.
They have food truck Wednesday's when the weather is warmer. Many social connection and living social events are held here too. Surprisingly peeps even hold their wedding receptions here during the summer months.
It's a large and great open space for many diverse and cultural events and so conveniently located.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Eldwin L.Detroit, MI107306799Apr 28, 2020
Great little place that has multiple different events inside of the covered exhibit area.
What was surprising was the expansive menu in the in-house Diner located in the corner of the building.
You would picture shoddy concession food like most event spaces. But this was not the case
The quality was quite good even serving breakfast and the area was very clean and reasonably priced
A pleasant surprise to an already great day
We definitely will come back for more events.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 14, 2020
Went up for the Shamrock and Shenanigans. Had really good time. There was a few different food vendors and beer area. I'm not a Bud or Bud light drinker so I was not in on that. The band Katie's Randy Cat were awesome, punk Irish music right in my wheel house. I sample food from four vendors I was happy with my choices. I had pierogies, potato pancakes, meatballs, and corned beef sandwich. All were very good. I took a picture of the menu to see where I my food. It was such a shame attendance was low but people were scared off by the Coronavirus threat. Maybe next year.

Parking is free during the market hours.
I live by Eastern Market, but thought I'd explore Royal Oak. It didn't disappoint! Probably not as good as Eastern market by vendor amt, but the abundance of food was definitely there. It's also nice that it's contained in one building. Less is sometimes more.
What it's lacking is a cheaper meat market like Gratiot.
I also like that Dirty Girl Farm as a shop here, definitely helps me explore the brand and new products. Plus, they let you sample things!
$6 Traverse City cherries
$5 plums
$.50 ear of corn (have gotten it for 3/$1 elsewhere)
$6 pints of blueberries
$3-4 cauliflower
Samples galore.
Prices are decent and the crowd is friendly, except the old man who chose to ignore me when I asked him a direct question. Awkward.
But other than that, I'm a fan.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
