SERVICE OFFICER ASSISTANT – VETERANS SERVICES

The Royal Canadian Legion National Headquarters, located in Kanata ON, is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Veterans Services team and provide administration support to Service Officers. This full-time position requires on-site work 5 days a week.

The Service Officer Assistant will work directly with the Director of Veterans Services and Service Officers to assist in day-to-day operations, including:

· Reviewing incoming correspondence and preparing outgoing correspondence.

· Creating and updating files,

· Assisting with applications for disability benefit applications to Veterans Affairs Canada and appeals to the Veterans Review and Appeal Board in accordance with business processes and formats.

· Assisting with disbursement of the Poppy Trust Fund.

· Verifying military or RCMP service.

· Responds to telephone, including Toll-Free line, and email enquiries and refers callers to appropriate Service Officer or outside organization.

· Preparing and processing documents for security clearances.

· Performs other related duties of a comparable level as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate will possess:

· Minimum 5 years progressive administrative experience supporting multiple projects and high-performance teams.

· Excellent research, analysis, and administrative skills.

· A customer centric approach who is highly flexible and easily adaptable to change.

· Some knowledge of medical and legal terminology would be an asset.

· Excellent organizational skills along with a passion for impeccable attention to detail.

· Proficient ability with Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, and Access).

· Business/Community College Diploma or equivalent experience required.

· Exceptional verbal communication, writing and editing skills.

· Fluent in English, bilingualism an asset.
