Great Collection!
5 Stars
Great Collection!
It is really nice to have this collection come together in a couple omnibuses (2nd comes out November 30th). So many interesting “What If” scenarios going all the way back to 1977. I will not give any spoilers here, but will say that this is a must read for any Marvel fan!

4.0 out of 5 stars Could have been great if it included issue 16
Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2021
The good: This is a collection of the first What if series published by Marvel in 1977 and contains the first 22 issues not including #16 (more on this later). The production is top notch. The pages are glossy and thick. The spine binding is fantastic and will stand the rigors of time. The dust jacket will keep the cover from fading as well as keeping dust off.

The bad: The problem with this omnibus is does not include #16 (What if Shang Chi fought for Fu Manchu?). After doing some searching on line, I found out that Marvel does not own the rights to the Fu Manchu character and since it is a culturally offensive character, Marvel (Disney) didn't care to (re)acquire it. As a complete series I wished Marvel had worked something out to include it (even though the character is offensive). However, the Shang Chi comics from the 1970s are reprinted as omnibus called The Hands of Shang Chi: Master of Kung Fu volumes 1, 2 and 3. Volume 3 includes What if #16.
