Ahsoka Tano is there for the birth of Luke and Leia in new Star Wars fan art. The former Jedi Ahsoka Tano made her impressive live-action debut during season 2 of The Mandalorian, with Rosario Dawson taking on the role.
Ahsoka was of course a fan favorite long before her appearance on The Mandalorian, thanks to her memorable role in the animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Having now been firmly established in the live-action Star Wars universe, Ahsoka will next get her own Disney+ series with Dawson returning to again play the powerful former student of Anakin Skywalker. It’s also thought that Ahsoka could return for season 3 of The Mandalorian, though nothing is confirmed.
Much is obviously still being kept under wraps when it comes to future plans for Star Wars on Disney+, but what is certain is that Ahsoka Tano will be a big part of those plans. Indeed Ahsoka is becoming strongly woven into Star Wars lore overall, so strongly that fans are ready to retcon her into just about any moment from the history of the series. As a case in point, fan artist Uzuri Art re-imagined the pivotal moment when Luke and Leia were born with Ahsoka now not only present but standing right behind Obi-Wan Kenobi as the birth happens. See the art in the space below:
The birth of twin Force-sensitive siblings Luke and Leia was of course depicted in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, with Ahsoka Tano nowhere to be seen as she would (presumably at least) already have been in hiding after Order 66 brought an end to the Jedi. Of course it’s always possible that Ahsoka could have traveled all the way to Polis Massa to meet with Yoda and Obi-Wan and discuss their next move, and happened to be present as Luke and Leia were born and Padme met her tragic Force-choke-inflicted death. But why exactly Anakin’s former Padawan would have endangered herself with a trip like that is hard to fathom.
In one sense randomly inserting Ahsoka into Luke and Leia’s birth scene does seem a bit silly, but perhaps no more so than George Lucas having R2-D2 and C-3P0 there for no particular reason in the actual Revenge of the Sith. If nothing else, the wildly canon-defying image symbolizes just how key Ahsoka is becoming to Star Wars lore, as she graduates from the realm of animated Star Wars into the live-action world. Ahsoka Tano does not yet have an official premiere date on Disney+.
