Rokeby is an all-boys school located in Canning Town in the London Borough of Newham. Its vision is based on the clear and concise values: respect, success, passion for learning, personal challenge and harmony which it puts into practice through all of its activities. The school’s motto is ‘dare to be the best’. It became part of the Newham Community Schools Trust with Lister Community School and Sarah Bonnell School in 2019. It was the first secondary school with which the Company developed a formal Link.

Liveryman John Ainsworth serves as Chairman of the Governing Body and Past Master David Lock serves as a member of the Governing Body and Chairman of its Community Committee. The Library at the school is named after Past Master Ian Richardson, who served as Vice-Chairman of the Governing Body prior to his untimely death.

In December 2018 Ofsted reported it to be a good school. What they said was “Pupils enjoy coming to school, and they are rarely absent and rarely late. Pupils are respectful and courteous and seek to support each other. One pupil said that the ‘school feels much more like a family than a school’.”

Through the WCCSA Charitable Trustees, funding is provided for leadership training for the boys, school visits, music lessons and other extra-curricular activities which parents could not otherwise afford. Part of the funding given by the Trustees included that from Past Master Lock’s charity as Master when, among other things, the Rokeby Opportunities initiative provided pupils who had talent, but limited resources, with additional tuition and supported a study visit to Berlin.

The school has entered teams in the Sheriff’s challenge, supported by the Company and have supported the Company in other ways.
