Frequently Asked

Questions

  • How Do I Dress for my Jet Boat Tour?

Dress in layers and bring a stuff sack. Our tours begin in the cooler coastal weather and progressively warm up as you head upriver. Inland temperatures can be 20-30 degrees warmer than the coast! It is a good idea to wear light quick-drying clothing underneath a sweatshirt and windbreaker. You may also want to bring a light blanket. Be aware of seasonal changes, May tours will require much warmer clothing than August tours!

Comfortable non-slip footwear is advised. Your feet will stay relatively dry during the tour (even on whitewater tours) and there will be a small walk to lodges and restrooms during most tours.

  • What Can I Bring?

Passengers are welcome to bring a small stuffsack or backpack on board and should include at least the basics of sunscreen, water, chapstick, sunglasses, and hat. For those 21 and older, make sure to bring ID and cash if you wish to purchase alcoholic beverages at the lodge. Alcoholic beverages or glass containers are not allowed on board the boat.

  • Are There Physical Limitations?

Our jet boat tours are safe and fun for all ages and mobility. Please call us to go over any concerns you may have. For anyone suffering from neck, back, or other physical ailments, it is best to consult your doctor before booking your tour.

  • When Can I Go Jet Boating?

Jet bot tours are available from May 1 thru October 21 each year. If you’re in Gold Beach outside of those dates, contact one of our boat captains for guided fishing options and private tours.

If you’re trying to stay flexible during your vacation, we recommend 2-3 days minimum. Walk-ins are always welcomed at your own risk. For more information call 1(800) 451-3645, email jerrys@roguejets.com or BOOK NOW

  • Changes and cancellations?

Please inform us of any changes as soon as possible, so we may have a chance to rebook those seats. 24 hour notice of cancellation is required for full reimbursement of your deposit (Reducing your party’s size is considered a cancellation). Cancellations inside 24 hours forfeit entire ticket value.

  • What is prohibited on all tours?

Smoking, vaping, alcohol, and grumpy people.

  • Are there restrooms on the jet boat?

No restrooms on board. The longest you will be on the boat without a rest stop is just over 2 hours.

  • Where’s the best place to sit?

All seats are window seats. Our boats are designed with a slight tier for great viewing. Seats are cushioned on both the bottom and back for your comfort. On the whitewater tours it will be bumpier towards the front, smoother towards the rear, and wet all over!

  • Can I reserve the front seat?

No reserved seating. Our pilots will load their boats to insure comfort and safety.

  • Will we get wet?

On our whitewater trips expect to get wet, but remember, the weather up river is beautiful. On the ‘Historic Mail Route’ it will depend on the day. Colder days our pilots will do their best to keep you dry and warm.

  • Do we wear lifejackets?

All our vessels are equipped with life jackets for all passengers. They are required to be worn by all passengers during the whitewater portion of the whitewater tours and throughout the tour for passengers 12 years of age or younger. Please speak with our office staff to request smaller lifejackets for your children prior to boarding.

  • Can you get sea sick on a jet boat?

Except in extreme cases, sea sickness and motion sickness do not occur. This is a river trip and does not have the motion of the ocean, which causes sea sickness.

  • Severe weather?

Rainy weather is rare during our operating season, but in case of severe weather reservations can be cancelled without penalty. Foggy mornings may be common, and do not constitute poor weather, fog usually only travels 3-5 miles inland. We require a minimum of 15 passengers to run a tour.

  • Special needs?

There are no odd questions. If you have any special needs or concerns i.e., walking up hill, bad back, wheelchairs, motion sickness, worried about the trip or whatever the question might be, please ask.

  • Age limit, fragile and pregnant?

Jerry’s has tours suitable for any age, young to the young at heart. There are no special requirements. We advise older, frailer passengers to consider the Bay Cruise or Historic Mail Route. This is also recommended for people with bad backs or pregnant.

  • Can I bring my pet?

Pets are not allowed on board. There are a few options available for pet boarding in Gold Beach:

    Happy Hills Kennel (541) 425-5222

Arrangements need to be made prior to your trip date. If you have a service animal that assists with sight, sound or mobility please call our office 1 (800) 451-3645 or email jerrys@roguejets.com to discuss your options.

Just so you know! A few of our pilots bring their dogs along. These ‘pilot dogs’ are specially trained to spot wildlife, save swimmers, provide pilot comfort and clean up left over food in the boat.

  • Is jet boating dangerous?

Safety of our passengers and other river users is our main concern. There are inherent risks and dangers involved in whitewater power boating on the Rogue River. These risks may include equipment failure, adverse weather conditions, hazardous whitewater rapids, rough water, abrupt boat handling and 360 degree spins. RogueJets, Inc, Mail Boat Upriver Service, Inc., Rogue Mail Boat Service, Inc., their employees, directors, and officers are not responsible for liability resulting from personal injury and property damage during this tour. Jerry’s Rogue Jets safely introduces 30,000 travelers annually to the Rogue River.

  • How are the Mail Route and Express Whitewater the same length of time?

The pace of the trip, departure schedule, vessel, and meal break are the four main reasons these trips are able to operate on the same schedule. The Whitewater Tour uses our smaller whitewater vessels and moves quicker upriver. The Historic Mail Route uses our bigger 65 passenger vessels and has a more subdued ‘scenic’ emphasis.

  • How is Jerry’s considered a Mail Boat?

We deliver the mail! We’ve been delivering mail to Agness Oregon since 1895 and continue to do it 6 days a week throughout the year. Every morning on the ‘Historic Mail Route’ passengers watch as mail is dropped and then picked up and brought back to Gold Beach. While passengers enjoy a meal stop in Agness the post office is busy sorting mail and preparing outgoing mail for the return trip.
