Tottenham have perfect chance to sign £17m ‘assist machine’ in swap deal thanks to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg admitted this week that he is not happy with his situation at Tottenham Hotspur, with the Danish star struggling for game time – and now, Spurs could use Hojbjerg to their advantage.

The 28-year-old made it clear while on international duty that he would be rather playing more than he has done under Ange Postecoglou. He is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract at Tottenham.

The chances are, that thre Dane leaves Tottenham in the summer, perhaps even before Euro 2024 starts. Juventus are really keen on landing the former Southampton and Bayern Munich star, for a £17m fee.

So, Hojbjerg looks more than likely to be leaving Spurs with Juventus keen on doing a deal for the tough-tackling midfielder. Spurs could use that to their advantage this summer, boosting their own business.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg set to leave Tottenham, potential swap deal

Tottenham are expected to be in the market for new signings with a European campaign on the horizon. Even if they struggle for fourth and finish in fifth place – Champions League football is still expected.

Strength in depth is required, then. At times this season, that lack of quality aside from the initial 13 or 14 players has been laid bare – when Micky van de Ven or James Maddison have been sidelined with injury.

Spurs have options out wide. Timo Werner could sign permanently, to rival Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson and Deki Kulusevski. But the addition of another winger makes sense – freeing up captain Son.

Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham are back in for Juventus’ English star Samuel Iling-Junior, after being linked with the £17m-rated winger in January. The ‘assist machine’ is a target for Spurs this summer.

Spurs want Samuel Iling-Junior – perfect swap deal opportunity

Given it is Juventus want Hojbjerg and Spurs want a Juventus player in Iling-Junior, a deal makes sense to look at a swap deal. Couple that with both players rated at a fee of £17m, it looks like the perfect move.

Hojbjerg has made it clear he is not happy and will want to leave. Spurs will want to sell given his contract situation – bringing in a fee now, rather than losing him on a free. Iling Junior adds top-quality depth.

He will surely be tempted to return to England, and join a club that are in the Champions League. The two clubs have a good relationship after doing deals for the likes of Kulusevski, Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur.

So, it presents the perfect opportunity for all involved. Juventus get one of their targets that wants to leave Spurs, Spurs get a player that adds quality – all without having to pay a single penny.
