Rose McGowan Engaged to Director Robert Rodriguez

The actress is sporting a large diamond ring on her wedding finger

Actress Rose McGowan is engaged to director Robert Rodridguez, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE.

McGowan, 34, met Rodriguez, 39, in 2006 when he directed her in the Planet Terror portion of the Grindhouse double feature.

“He’s my best friend,” McGowan told PEOPLE last June. “We instantly became really good friends.”

Engagement rumors swirled as the couple attended Hollywood events, and last month the New York Post‘s Page Six first spotted McGowan sporting a large diamond ring on her wedding finger.

McGowan previously was engaged to rocker Marilyn Manson. Rodriguez is divorced from producer Elizabeth Avellan, with whom he has five children.

A rep for McGowan declined to comment. Calls to Rodriguez’s rep were not immediately returned.
