Good Morning America Meteorologist Rob Marciano Out at ABC News
Rob Marciano and ABC News have parted ways.
The longtime meteorologist, who regularly appeared on Good Morning America, is no longer employed with the network, TVLine has confirmed.
ABC declined to comment, and TVLine has also reached out to Marciano’s camp for a statement.
The news comes seven months after the weather man stepped away from his duties for GMA’s weekend editions. At the time, he maintained that he wasn’t leaving ABC.
“This month marks the start of my 10th year with ABC News, and I couldn’t be more pumped to continue this journey with all of you,” Marciano previously wrote on Instagram. “I always dreamed of working for this network as a kid, and my children are equally psyched that I will now be home most weekends! I’ll continue doing what I’m doing, contributing across all shows and platforms weekdays, while getting some solid quality time with my kiddos.”
Somara Theodore stepped in to fill the void while Marciano transitioned to weekday coverage.
In addition to GMA, Marciano appeared on ABC World News Tonight With David Muir. He previously anchored for CNN and Entertainment Tonight.

I so agree. I can’t stand Lara Spencer from even before she was on GMA, she was on some entertainment show. Agree about Strahan also. I watched his interview with Jon Bon Jovi the other night and at one point it becomes about him. Bon Jovi had to have surgery on his vocal cords and Srahan starts comparing it to an injury he had when he was playing football and then there showing pictures of Strahan and wasting minutes out of what’s only an hour show on him. I was like you are the interviewer, this isn’t about you! Don’t really like Stepanopolis or Robin Robers either. They need all new anchors.

Actually it Bon Jovi who brought up Strahan’s surgery first comparing how the surgeries affected both of them; then Straham put his two cents in in response. Just saying.

Yes I understand what you went through. Instead he went on and on for a few minutes and they had to insert pictures of him from his football days while he was talking.

ABC, whomever is making the staff decisions needs to be fired. Your values are extremely hypocritical. I hope Rob gets hired by one of your competitors. If so I will definitely watch them

I am disappointed that they would let go someone as talented in weather as Rob. They needed to let Sam Champion go and keep Rob to fill in when Ginger isn’t there which is all the time. All Sam Champion wants to do is look like a pretty gay and talk about how he looks in a Speedo and giggle. Be nice to have someone who knowledgeable & wants to talk about the weather!! This will make me change to CBS.
Yes! I hope he goes to CBS mornings! I love Tony, Gail and co! They gel and are really not fake and cheesy like alot of the GMA gang laughing at all their own joked. CBS mornings needs a meteorologist and since ROB has also done on location reporting they need someone in thar depth too!
No surprise to me. There’s been something decidedly ‘off’ about Marciano for quite awhile now. I watch GMA and David Muir everyday and sometimes Muir has needed to prompt Marciano when the latter appears almost to be in a stupor. I’ve seen him repeat the exact same phrases 3-4 times in a row while other times Marciano stammers while searching for his words. Uncomfortable to watch as a regular viewer. Sincerely hope Marciano finds whatever help he may need as he seems to be a nice guy.
** Now that I’ve read many articles from very reliable sources on the reasons for Marciano’s firing – I must amend my comment. He is most definitely NOT a nice man and I hope he NEVER lands another TV gig! Let him wallow in misery!

Ah, that’s a bummer. I enjoyed him on the 6:30 news, particularly enjoyed his bearded era. ABC really doesn’t need to send them to stand in hurricanes though. Hope he finds work on another network.
It’s a shame he was let go… Wishing Rob all the best… And even bigger shame is that we’re still stuck with the obnoxious and overbearing Sam Champion (and before Sam‘s fans come jumping down my throat. I’m gay also).

Gregory, I am a gay gentleman and always enjoyed Sam Champion since the early nineties. I had the opportunity to meet him and he was very kind. But, since he returned to Eyewitness News morning broadcast and GMA several years ago I noticed that he has changed and I feel sad about that. He is very distant to the audience.
He’s been problematic for a while. He had to see what was coming but still didn’t clean up his act.
I honestly believe ABC News held on to him until his contract expired and that was that. The fact it was not safe to have him report at the ABC News studios in New York City says a lot. I wonder why charges weren’t filed against him.

What exactly did Rob Marciano do that made people at work uncomfortable? I always liked the way he delivered the weather. Sad.he was fired for anger issues.
Interesting that other sites are reporting that he was fired for cause. Namely, misconduct.
That’s what I’m thinking is odd too. There are multiple reports that he was temporarily barred from the studio. Apparently he had multiple reports of misconduct over the years from fellow employees.
It also seems odd that the misconduct, if true, has remained vague with neither side commenting . That has not happened in other recent situations.

The stories I saw specifically mentioned “anger issues”, which I presume may have sometimes bled over to his on-air performance. I haven’t seen any specific examples of this, but they’re probably out on youtube somewhere.
I truly enjoyed his weather reporting. I felt what he reported was true.
I think ABC is making a big mistake.

I’m not surprised by the misconduct allegations. Back before he went to national he was the weatherman here where I lived and he cheated on his wife. So another Matt Lauer
Cheating on his wife is his own business. Unless he was cheating with someone at the studio that wouldn’t be a reason to fire him.
I watch channel 5 new and Good Morning America. And I never saw him get mad what so afterso who gotwhat happen stop caused himself.
Rob Marciano was the best of ABC news. I always hoped he would eventually replace Ginger Zee because he deserved the top meteorologist spot.
I wish him loads of luck in whatever he does next. It would be great to see him on another network.

Per sources there was a recent blow up between Rob and a producer that Ginger Zee heard about. She reported it to upper management at ABC. This apparently was the last straw and ABC decided to fire Rob. Choose to believe this or not. Until there is a statement from Rob and/or ABC all we have is what ‘sources’ are saying.
