Rob Lowe has been famous for nearly 40 years, but aside from his wild-child days in the Brat Pack, his personal life largely escapes scrutiny—and there's a reason for that: Lowe has been happily married for three decades to a woman who isn't famous in her own right, but is the star of the show in his heart. Lowe credits his lovely wife, Sheryl Berkoff, with not just cleaning up his image after some serious scandals in the 1980s, but also with rescuing him in private.
"Listen, she may have saved my life, really," the 9-1-1: Lone Star star gushed to Entertainment Tonight. "I mean, she met me when I was at the end of my '80s run of wild boy craziness and she was worth changing my life for. And so I am really lucky that that happened to me. Maybe I had changed it on my own, maybe, but it's a big maybe. And just when I met her, I knew that if I could not make it with her, I definitely could not make it work with anyone else."
The couple share two adult sons, which is a dream come true for the beloved Parks and Recreation star.
"I always wanted that life, I really wanted kids. I wanted a normal life outside of Hollywood," he said. "I wanted to insert myself in Hollywood for what I needed to do and get out like a light and live as normal of a life as I can, and we were able to do that because I think we were very well matched." He added of Sheryl, "I am so blessed to have found the right person, that I found a soulmate and someone who I think is so hot and smart and funny. Great mother, great businesswoman, I am just super, super blessed."

On July 22, 2022, Lowe and Berkoff celebrated 31 years of marriage.
While guest-hosting The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021, Lowe joked, "My beautiful wife Sheryl and I are celebrating our 30-year wedding anniversary. Everybody's asking me what I'm planning to do, and I got some ideas. I thought that maybe my wife and I could play 18 holes of golf. On one hand, my wife hates golf, but on the other hand, I love it, and marriage is a compromise. And then I thought the day should involve something my wife likes, so I'm thinking spa treatments, a nice lunch, walk on the beach. And while she's doing that, I'll be playing golf."

Indeed, Lowe and Berkoff remain blissfully wed as of this writing. Lowe says that the couple and their family regularly go to therapy.
"The one thing, though, that has been a part of our family is the notion of therapy as a sort of proactive, non-shaming [practice], like a trainer," Lowe said in a 2019 interview. "We think of going to therapy or talking to a therapist... it's literally no different from a chiropractor."
Another reason their marriage works, Lowe says, is that they chose one another wisely. "It really is all about who you pick," he told Gwyneth Paltrow on her Goopfellas podcast in 2019. "I always say to people, 'If there's any way to marry your best friend, do it.' 'Cause the rest of it comes and goes, and I was very lucky there."

Berkoff and Lowe met on a blind date in 1983, but sparks didn't fly immediately and they didn't pursue a relationship after a few dates. They ran into one another again and reconnected in 1989 when Berkoff worked as a makeup artist on Lowe's film Bad Influence, and the timing was right for both of them. They fell madly in love and tied the knot in 1991.
In 2014, Lowe explained to Haute Living that when he and Berkoff first met, he simply wasn't ready to be monogamous (or sober). He credits getting together with Berkoff years later for turning his entire life around.
"I had met my now wife, Sheryl, and was attempting my first try at monogamy—which was not really in my nature at the time—and I wasn't able to do it," he admitted. "It made me examine how I was living my life. That led me to getting sober, which led me to changing my life—giving me everything I now have. You have to want to change. I wanted it; I was ready."

Berkoff is a makeup artist and jewelry designer. She is the owner and founder of Sheryl Lowe Jewelry, which has a men's line called Mr. Lowe—inspired by her famous hubby and their sons.
Lowe previously gushed to Parade of Berkoff's jewelry line, "She just got into Bergdorf's! I'm inspired by that; it keeps it interesting and fresh. And she has always been a great mom and homemaker."
