I think that the Van Buren drive in is great! I go all the time. I have been going there for 10 years now. At one point years ago it was kind of a bad place to go regarding police helicopters, and police activity.
But now, it is not like that at anymore. There prices are great, and they have really good popcorn. My kids love the drive in!

I enjoy going to the Drive Inn. I do not have to worry about someone kicking me in the head or hitting me with an elbow. I drive in in my own vehical and enjoy the show. It is cheep and kids under 12 get in free.

You can't beat 2 movies for 1 admission, no matter where you go. The only thing missing from this drive-in are the dancing hot dogs during intermission. If you have kids there is no better way to see the latest movies than in the comfort of your sound-proof car. Plus kids are free! All this and they serve hot food cooked to order at very low prices. What a Deal!

Priced at 6.00 per adult and children 9 years and under are free. For 12.00 a family of four can see two movies (kids under 9 of course) and you can't beat that price. We don't usually visit the snack bar since we take our own drinks and snacks. When the kids get tired they fall asleep and we can watch the movies in peace. The movie plays on your own radio so the sound is as good as what you provide.

My first (and last) trip to the Van Buren Drive-In left much to be desired. The place is filthy. The exterior of the snack bar is disgusting, as is the interior. Used condoms and empty beer bottles adorn the parking area. My children are grown and have families of their own, but, if they were little kids ........ I would never take them to this drive-in.

I've been going to the Van Buren Drive-In for a long time, Its a great place to go and watch movies without the distractions and annoyances of a theater. But unfortunately Riverside has taken a turn for the worse, I can't remember the last time I went to the drive-in and I didnt see a police helicopter shining the spotlight around the theater. Or hear the sounds of gunshots, followed by an ambulance and police siren 30 minutes later. The Van Buren Drive-In is a good theater, just expect some distractions.

Love going to the drive in. Affordable price, kids love the freedom to move around during the movie. Only complaint is with the many pigs (sorry people) My goodness people!clean your mess!!! We go, take our food, cooler etc etc and when is time to leave we pack everything and take it back with us to dispose of it at home or the nearest trash can. I cannot believe the nerve of some people, just gross. I can only imagine what their home is like.
Go there 1 hr before gates open to get good spots. All spots are good, is a big screen you will see the movie anywhere you park... but you will not be by the front (middle) if you get there late.

The Van Buren drive-in has been in Riverside for decades. Unfortunately, the owner was trying to sell the property to a house developer and the city residents said no we want a Costco(and we still do). The drive-in is still there, but it won't be updated, unless you count a wrecking crane and a backhoe as an improvementin the not too too distant future. Please enjoy the drive-in while you can. Take your kids in their pjs with their "blankies" and pillows. Sit in the back of your trucks and enjoy the urban outdoors(no beer allowed guys) and remember, once this Riverside area entertainment landmark is gone, there will be no more drive-ins in Riverside proper, only Rubidoux(but it isn't even safe for the police there). It is still a good deal. You can always go semi upscale- stop at trader joes and grab something to eat or get your favorite take out and take it in with you. Introduce your kids to a movie theater genre that is near extinction. Kids will get a kick out of it, and you'll save a few in the process.
