If one star even. My girlfriend had THE WORST experience getting wisdom teeth taken out. First they didn't have the proper equipment on site for original procedure, making her wait an extra hour under anesthesia. Then on her follow up the next day we were informed that they hit an artery on the initial surgery and they are having trouble stopping the bleeding. I was told the doctors friend had something like this happen to him so they are calling around for a solution as we are 2+ hours into the follow up visit. All the while I am not allowed to be back in the room at all for either procedure to talk to doctors or my girlfriend. I would never recommend anyone use this doctor or staff for any procedures.

I went to Dr Oakley for an implant because he was recommended by my biological dentist who I love. I figured if they trust him enough to refer their patients then he must be good. His communication style was direct and efficient and reminded me of the East Coast. But he was still patient and answered all of my questions. This implant was replacing a tooth that over many years and dentists had experienced a root canal, 2 different crowns, extraction and a bone graft. After all that, I was pretty nervous about this procedure! The staff got me through it and a few years later the implant is still working well.

This place is way overpriced. Look somewhere else. There are more affordable options out there who provide quality services.

I really like the Mission office. They offer coffee (always a plus) and is nothing fancy, but they are highly efficient and organized.
Dr. Oakley clearly enjoys what he does and that is contagious.
I had oral surgery there and what impressed me was that the staff gets along well and obviously enjoy their work and each other--always a good sign. Highly recommend this practice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amanda O.Overland Park, KS8996154Jun 3, 2013
I had all four wisdom teeth out in my twenties. Dentists had been telling me for years that they needed to come out, and I finally had one that was causing me (SERIOUS!) pain. It was pretty infected by the time I got there, and I was very thankful there wasn't much of a wait for this pretty routine procedure. I was treated kindly by all the staff, and had quite a few follow-ups - both offices were all quite lovely.
I give extra points to the kind and discrete way the front desk gals treated my OMG unreasonable, scene-causing episode coming out of anesthesia! I was not a pleasant patient, and they didn't even *mention* it when I came back (though I eventually pried, because I couldn't remember a darn thing!).
Anyhow - jokes aside, I always enjoyed coming into the office, albeit not for the most pleasant of reasons!
Thanks, Dr. Oakley & Staff!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Andrea D.Overland Park, KS07Sep 12, 2018
I went to see Dr. Oakley for an opinion on dentures/implants. I did not expect anything as I had never met him previously. He was in network on my insurance plan and came highly recommended by staff at my current general dentist who is one of the top in his field. Previous visits with other oral surgeons had found them arrogant and aloof-not wanting to answer questions. One of my adult sons went with me. With previous visits to other Oral surgeons, the other doctors talked more to my son than to me. I felt ignored and unimportant when it was me who was the patient. They had beautiful offices, yet the staff members were cold and distant.
When we walked into Dr. Oakley's office, I found an unpretentious waiting room and was a bit concerned..., "Where's the cool, high tech stuff?" I wondered. "Is he really a good doctor?" I could not have been more wrong. From the moment we walked into the office, the staff was attentive and made me feel like a Rock Star. I was important to them. The doctor came in and sat with us for a great while even though he had spent the entire day in surgeries, consults etc. He never once made us feel rushed, but answered question after question that we threw at him because I was scared and our funds are not endless. He was, rather, kind, gracious and deeply caring. He gave us several realistic options from highly conservative to more high tech, and left me feeling that I mattered and that he respected me as an intelligent woman who simply needed facts to make an informed good personal decision. And several weeks later when I developed pain in an offending tooth, his staff, Cherron and Shelly, did everything they could to get me in right away and showed the same, kind caring attention. I felt spoiled and a lot less scared, which, for me speaks volumes. He will do my upcoming surgery. He has earned something far more important than my money-he has earned my trust.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I waited till I was 50 to have my wisdom teeth out. I was terrified and I am a terrible dental patient. It was a piece of cake and I had no problems and no pain. They were super. I'm booking my kids to have theirs done now.
