Nope, that’s it for Ms. Spellman and her witchy friends. The show was canceled on July 8, months after shooting for the episodes had wrapped. Netflix initially picked up the series (after first FOX, then The CW passed) for 20 episodes, which were split into Part 1 and Part 2; and then an additional 16 episodes (Part 3 and Part 4). Netflix hasn’t publicly commented on the reason for the cancellation, but given the show seemed to be a critical and audience hit, the move was certainly surprising. And further, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been pretty open about having plans for Part 5: the long-awaited Riverdale crossover. Ah, well: to the fanfic machine!
