Mayo Clinic Worst blood lab ever

For an organization that says it is proud of the quality of its care, and which charges accordingly, they have absolutely the worst blood lab I've ever seen. As bad as it was 2 months ago, it is even worse now. Whoever manages this debacle should be fired. Now.

We were told yesterday the wait would be an hour from the appointment time and to go to the next appointment on our list and come back. We were back in 30 minutes but only then did they put us in the queue. And hour and 15 minutes later we still hadn't been called. We left.

At least 2 of the 3 or 4 phlebotomists were acting very inappropriately, like a night at the comedy club while at least 50 people were waiting. The check-in staff is not the least bit helpful but I suppose they can't be blamed much. They must be sick of it, too.

To make matters worse, the schedulers don't consider the ridiculous wait times so patients' choices are to sit there and miss other appointments or to keep those appointments and blow off the blood work. The problem with that though is that Mayo refuses to let patients have blood work done somewhere else.

To be clear...this is not a walk-in lab. It is by appointment only and by 10 a.m. or earlier the back-up and wait times are horrible. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for this self-created mess.

The management should be kicked to the curb and, until this is fixed, scheduling should be adjusted accordingly. I can't believe whoever leads the scheduling group hasn't done so already. That's probably another manager who should be sent packing.

Last but not least, if you don't have a big nest egg, go someplace else. Unlike most other clinics, they do not accept Insurance providers' standard payments. Another visit or two and we will have to start paying our balance by credit card and then paying outrageous interest on that balance.

Mayo Clinic Service

I recently was in one of your facilities for a urinary track infection. I was surprised when I was told I could not sit down. I had to stand on a piece of tape to wait for my turn to go up to the clerks at the desk. I repeated to the clerk I can’t sit down? No, you have to stand over here on the tape and put the mask on Any part of that sounds funny to you? There are numerous reports on mask wearing that masks do absolutely nothing haven’t you learned anything in the past 3 to 4 years during the pandemic that mask do nothing When are going to update your facilities with current information medically and insurance policy

Mayo Clinic Gastroenterologist

I was first in to see Dr. Lundsford for bloating and diarrhea January of. this year. The first thing they had me do was physical therapy, REALLY?! I have been battling this for 2 years following the removal of my gall bladder. Then I had to poop a balloon out of my butt, then they put me on a FODMAP diet because I magically became gluten intolerant after my surgery. I have been on several different Rx's which have done absolutely nothing. I really thought there would be more hands on treatment, she has barely examined me. Our last conversation she was short with me when I asked her a question about something she said, then she told she has millions of patients that have the same thing I do. I don't want to be lumped into a group, I want my case to be special to her. I get the feeling she just thinks I'm old and getting fat. I started gaining weight In February & I'm now up 14 lbs. in 6 mos. I am fanatical about my weight, I'm eating practically nothing and the weight just keeps coming on. I did tell her I'm getting depressed so she has me set up with a psychiatrist. Little does she know that I'm almost more depressed about her care than my malady. I am tired of diarrhea, sore ribs & being miserable 24 hrs a day.

Desired outcome: My desired outcome is hands on care by someone who I feel really wants to help me get better.

Mayo Clinic Review of patient history claim

Reviewing a patients' prior history should be standard of care.

As a patient, I followed the protocol outlined to me to contact my insurance provider and verify coverage.

Doctors/medical providers should understand if there are other requirements for billing and either request prior authorization for the medical procedures, tests or in this case "review of outside (historic) imaging for prior strokes"

In this situation. I was asked to send or bring imaging tapes or send through the cloud. I tried and was unsuccessful. I did the consent forms but the imaging didnt transfer. Mayo clinic helped me get the imaging.

They then did not tell me that I needed to get prior authorization and that they will be doing so as a separate billing code from the patient intake visit and that they do not do prior authorizations.

As a patient from out of state, i had hours and days sitting around at a hotel waiting for the tests etc.

Those tests all had a prior authorization and the billing went through fine. The problem is that I got billed for $2100 for reviewing my patient history (images of my prior mri's) .

I filed the appeal with my insurance provider and they denied the claim.

I submit to you that 1. Mayo Clinic should have known that the billing would be sent through as a bill separate from my appointment and that the review of those images would required prior authorization. 2. Mayo clinic should have submitted for prior authorization or at the very minimum urged me to get prior authorization before asking for me to send the images and reviewing the images that were going to be billing me $2100.

Resolution that I am interested in: Either, Mayo clinic takes responsibility for never filing a prior authorization, or Blue Cross Blue Shield pays the claim.

As a side note, I had already paid my full annual deductible (which I am on a payment plan for).

I have insurance, I met my deductible, I attended a reputable hospital for a 2nd opinion and did call my insurance co to request permission to go there.

I do not believe patients (especially ones dealing with brain injury) should be responsible for knowing the protocols of the medical provider or insurance company.

Mayo Clinic failed to tell me that there needed to be a prior authorization, failed to ask me to do it and failed to do it themselves.

Through the appeals process, the Insurance provider is failing to review with reason. Had the prior authorization been requested, would it have been approved? Obviously: Yes - and Had that happened - would this bill have been covered under insurance? Yes.

There are 2 companies who could have helped me as a patient and both have failed me. Leading me to now file complaints whereever I can including the insurance commission.

Please waive this bill for $2100.

Mayo Clinic GI scheduling for life or death problems

They won’t see me- I told her it was life and death. She said “I don’t know what to tell you, see a local doctor”. And this is after I told her I’ve seen 5, including specialists. When you submit and get denied for lack of availability, they don’t let you request again for 6 months. My question was “so people who are very sick request appointments, get denied, and have to suffer for another 6 months?” Her response? “Yeah, basically”

I am incredibly unimpressed at how little they care for the health of people reaching out who can’t live their lives because of health problems.

No one there cares about anything except the money they get from filling the 12 week schedule. No waitlist, no help, no compassion, no actual healing for those who may actually be dying.

Literally: screw this place. I don’t care if they have the best doctors, they are awful to potential patients. The ones scheduled and paying….that’s another story. Healthcare is supposed to be there to fix the ill. They are not.

Mayo Clinic Life or death asap dad asking for help

Is this typical of mayo clinic that you people or should I say customers (patients) come back ever month for services that you dont address, my sonis goint to die at your hospital which of course you know andrew russel panzer when you flight for life for $85.000 and you people didnt fix the problem (serve facial sinus blockages) then you release him and you guys did freaking nothing! Oh yea the insurance company (security health now is aware of this [censored]. And you want send him home with the same pain he was in when he got there. All you people do is give out pain pills but you dont solve the problem. Look at his attendence at your hospital for the last year hes been discharge and freaking re admitted 10-13 times un acceptable. Oh yea its not going to stop here. Someone is going to answer for this! For the love of god why dont you want to make him better. So now he can attend his only sister wedding saturday 7/1/23 hopefully this wedding doesnt turn out to be her only brothers funeral... Thanks for putting my one and only son thru all this pain and suffering and addicked to opilds you people are unbelieveable havig my son to die at your expense. Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular department

My wife was scheduled for a angiography at 10:45 a.m. on Friday June 23rd. She is diabetic and was told not to eat past 12:00 midnight of the 22nd. We arrived on time but had to wait, at 2:00 p.m. I we nt to the waiting room attendant and explained that my wife was diabetic and hasn't eaten in over 14 hrs and that how much longer. Was told it would be about an hr more. At approximately 2:45 they called her back where a boy named Jacob put an I.V., once hooked up he put the I.V. bag at its full extention of the holder with my wife's arm being held up in the air! She was right across from the nurses station and was asking for assistance complaining that she couldn't hold up her arm any longer. All the nurses just continued discussing their personal lives and completely ignored my wife's cries. She layed there for 2.25 hrs. In pain inflicted cruelty from Jacob. Bob from anesthesia came in and seen the abusive state she was left in and immediately lowered the I.V. bag holder and showed disgust in what they did to her. Now it's been 17 hrs with out food which left her in hypoglycemia state. For over two hrs she asked dozens of times to take her blood sugar reading and the nurses completely ignored her all while leaving the nurses light illuminated and what they did is just walk across from the nurses station an slam the curtain shut! At no time ever during our stay did the ever take her blood sugar reading. They finally took her into procedures at 5:00 p.m. where she was aggressively manipulated by heartless interns and with an audience of men gawking at her while she was de robed being fully naked and embarrassing humiliating my wife. The M.B. B. S Aravdeep Jhand was very extremely aggressive with my wife slamming her arm down to just cover the insertion shield, he has absolutely no patient compassion and dehumanize while manipulation of her arms. He needs another career as an ax man and not in the medical field. Very cocky and intimidating to say the least. We were told from the start that a professor was going to be doing the procedure and not a flunky wanna be! A nurse named Judy entered the room to see how much prednisone to give her as she's allergic to iodine, prior to our hospital arrival she was told to take 4 tablets the night before and one in the morning of the procedure. At this point her blood sugar has spike to over 400. As a result she lost her right eye vision which is to this day still gone! At no point throughout the visit did anyone address her dangerous situation that the Mayo Clinic Staff left her in. I was lead to believe that we were at the best hospital in the world... that is an out right false, we found that not one excluding Bob the Anesthesiologist knew what the hell they were doing! None of them belongs there working on human beings. I personally am appalled at the unprofessional service that Mayo medical staff provided! The surgical room was filthy looking rusted out like a factory. We will never return to Mayo Clinic and will never give a good report about it. We are left to seek medical attention for my wife's right eye left without vision that was damaged from the extensive wait and neglect to assist her in her diabetic situation after dozens of cries for help even when she screamed out for me her husband to come back to address the what was/is an emergency all due as result of the Mayo staff in Cardiology neglect. She's currently blind in her right eye thanks to Mayo. Boy were we misguided. I really was hoping for a top notch outcome however was deceived.

Mayo Clinic Pharmacy

My daughter has a prescription that is refilled every month that has serious repercussions if not taken within a couple hours of the time it is to be taken or she may have seizure and these are serious seizures many times causing injury! She has at least twice run out of her medication causing injury! This weekend she had called the pharmacy again and they told her it would be there today and we could pick it up for her. Well today they tell her they are out at the st marys pharm and they cant simply send the med from the subway pharm but they need a new prescription to do that! She had been trying to a hold of her dr for a emergency prescrip all weekend, and just now they returned answered her email I belive that she sent last friday, she has called a couple times in the past 6 or 7 days before she would be out and they tell her they cannot fill it because its has to be filled within 5 days so as soon as she is able to fill it she tries and it seems like its always on a weekend or a holiday and we run into a situation like today where her parents spend the day running around rochester trying to get her meds to her! This has really gotten ridiculous,

Desired outcome: We wish she could get her meds on time and maybe all from the same pharmacy instead of hundereds of miles and time lost

Mayo Clinic Insurance policy

I have been a patient for many years at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix Arizona. I was informed that we could no longer come to Mayo Clinic as of 2023; due to insurance changes. I have Medicare Aetna Advantage PPO. In talking with Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and was informed that this was an administration decision for Phoenix and Florda.

I was informed my Aetna insurance that we could still go to Mayo Clinic as an out of network provider.

Mayo Clinic Billing personnel / clinic billing

Fyi, any caps words are for emphasis and are not yelling nor intended that way, but italics to show emphasis isn't an option on any mobile device i've ever used, therefore any of the following written in all caps is purely emphatic and is not yelling.

To begin then: I have paid faithfullly on my billing to mayo clinic for years for my treatment, of which I was told approximately $34 / session was copay. My monthly auto-payments were being taken off my card every month for years in the amount of $75 / month. Now i'm told I have a balance due of over $900, and yet nobody seems capable of explaining how that happened, but i'm apparently not allowed to show any frustration over the situation on the phone with billing personnel.

The worst part of which I never stopped saying "please" or "may we" or using very polite language even when I had to keep repeating the same question because the billing personnel wasn't answering them in any way that made sense, and even still I didn't ever once utter a single curse word, even though nobody else in that situation would have bothered to hold back even a micro-inch worth if they were in my shoes. Your billing personnel have no sensitivity, are extremely condescending and it shows clearly in their tones of voice and how snappish and temperamental they are, every time I call any of them, and the fact they are too ready to hang up on anyone just because they said "please" in a mildly rougher tone from a frustration not even directed at the billing person but at the situation in general.

Your billing personnel need some massive customer service training because after 30+ years in the field, I would never, and I mean never treat anyone with the absolute and utter lack of any human level of "i-just-met-you-on-the-street-i-don't-even-know-you-we're-complete-strangers" dignity or respect whatsoever.

This is so far past utterly reprehensible and unacceptable it has gone into the arena of insanity. Nobody should ever have to be treated with anything less than the minimum, basic strangers just meeting dignity and respect when they are already calling in a confused state of higher than normal anxiety over a problem which according to the words stated by billing personnel shouldn't have ever logically been capable of happening because $75 is greater than $34 and if paid monthly for appointments which happen only monthly, then there is no logical explanation why I should have ever received 5 letters on the same day all showing past due dollar amounts of varying amounts but all for under $75 each supposedly past due some for months worth of time.

Where are the $75 / month going if they aren't being applied to these $11-something and $34sometjing bills that they became psst due? Just exactly where is my money going and what are these billing people doing if not their jobs?

Someone had to have messed something up if the copay amounts were less than $75 / month but the copay parts of all these bills keep going past due even though they are smaller than the $75 / month I have years of payment history on my accounts to show for.

I want a supervisor to contact me in the next 3 business days because I assure you mayo clinic will see not one more cent from me, because I will cancel all accounts, pay off what's there and never return, on top of which I will not lie to friends and family when they ask me why I stopped going to mayo which will happen because they all know I go there for treatment, every month, regular as clockwork.

They all also know that I tell the truth when asked about these things, so I will tell you now, when they inevitably ask me about it, I will not lie on mayo clinic's behalf to my family and friends.

The least these billing people need is massive outside 3rd-party expert customer service training. They have no right to treat anyone in such a condescending, sneering, nasty, disrespectful, demeaning, dehumanizing manner as they always do to me whenever I call their nationwide toll-free line.

Desired outcome: I expect Mayo to give ALL billing personnel massive EXPERT training in customer service courses, because no one should ever be treated as sub-human like they did to me.

Mayo Clinic Order #[protected], Cust. #[protected]

Dear Sir/Madame,

I just received the book “Alzheimer’s Disease”, 2nd Ed., but in a sorry condition. The reason of my complaint has nothing to do with the shipping. I blame the problem on the manufacturer.

The printer glued the individual pages of the book in the binding. That is quite common to keep costs down. However, if the glue does not form an adequate layer to hold all pages together, the entire book will fall apart in a very short time. I checked one of the first pages and some in the middle of the book with the same result.

Please advise what to do with this faulty merchandise.

Mayo Clinic Bait 7 switch on psychiatric services

I need help diagnosing if my wife has a personality disorder. Mayo Clinic came up as the best rated source of such patient care. I filled out their mental health form and submitted it. They set up a phone consultation on March 16 at 9AM and reminded me by text 3 times. They did not call me and when I called them they told me they discontinued that patient care service in June of 2022! I see their reviews are very mediocre on Consumer Affairs. These are terribly incompetent, useless psychiatric services. Do not waste your time with Mayo Clinic. I guarantee you disappointment and in my case more damage to my already fractured marriage!

Desired outcome: Make the public aware that Mayo Clinic is no longer a first rate patient care organization - they are barely 3rd rate in my experience. Avoid like the plague!!!

Pain and Suffering, Negligence, Discrimination, Misdiagnosed, Emotional Trauma

Dear Mayo Clinic,

I am writing to express my disappointment of the care I have received form the clinic, specifically from doctors and staff at the Sparta and Lacrosse, and Onalaska locations. I underwent Total Knee Replacements with Dr. Nolte in 2016 and again in 2017 with no issues at all, regarding smoking, and care. Now in 2021,2022, I am having great concerns of the medical care I have received on my right hip.

I fell at home in November 2019 and sought treatment for pain in my right groin area. After multiple attempts, multiple doctors, appointments and x-rays I believe that my concerns were not adequately addressed. I believe that my concerns were not adequately addressed, and I was misdiagnosed, which has resulted in a significant change in my quality of life. Appropriate action was not taken to alleviate my pain in suffering.

Diagnosis I was given many times is that it was arthritis. I have a history of arthritis throughout my body, I have experienced the pain and suffering from arthritis. I informed the medical Doctors all along that it was not the feeling of arthritis that something was wrong. I believe that my concerns were not adequately addressed. I was told to go to Physical Therapy on numerous occasions. Doctors were told by myself that"I did not want to go because I knew something serious was wrong with my hip". It was just disregarded by medical professions. I do believe that I deserved to receive the best possible care and to have all my concerns addressed, which this did not take place.

I did have a second fall in September 9/21. At this time, I fractured my right patella and injured my thumb. So that was my second hit to the right side. Informing my doctors at this time I am experiencing pain in the Right side also.

After being put through much pain and suffering I finally went outside of Mayo for help which I did receive. Because of being misdiagnosed and thrown away by Mayo Clinic Health the condition in my hip had deteriorated tremendously. Causing a one-month bed rest after surgery and still healing.

5/3/22... MRI performed (Showed my hip was fractured etc.) results included.
5/12/2022... Dr. Nolte... Right Groin Pain. "I'm not worried about fractures I will sand them down"per Dr. Nolte... Nurse did paperwork for surgery, during this visit I asked Dr. Nolte's nurse why I have to stay in hospital overnight? Her response to me and my husband was "because you're a ticking time bomb."
6/6/2022... was asked to go to one appointment in physical therapy so they can show me what I can't do after surgery. So, I did.
6/2022... surgery scheduled with Dr. Nolte. (approximately one week out got a call from dr. Nolte's nurse cancelling surgery because I had low levels of cotinine. (my husband was smoking I had quit) told his nurse I would like to have him call me back about cancelling surgery. Never have I recieved a call back to this day. I was just left dropped with no help, just pain and suffering, no referral no suggestions. I felt like I was just thrown away like garbage. No one cared.

7/8/2022... Dr Bringe... Right Hip Pain (GROIN)... Agreed to do Injection.
7/14/2022... Dr. Gende... Injection for Right Hip
8/4/2022... Dr. Woodward hip Pain but injection helped for a short while.
8/15/2022... Dr. Bringe... Right Hip Pain... Surgery scheduled for Oct 26,2022
Cancelled again because of cotinine showing in blood work, and again just Dropped like a piece of trash. No help, no referral, just left to suffer in pain.
9/16/22... called nurse Right hip Pain... was told I could go in they could get me out of pain at least while I was there... went to ER.
9/17/22... ER... Right hip Pain. Excruciating pain
Had to go outside of Mayo for someone to help me. Now surgery was performed.
⦁ How can mayo justify these actions?
⦁ When did a fractured hip become an elective surgery?
⦁ Two times I had knee replacements I was on Medicaid and at this time there was no question of smoking. Things didn't change that much in that short amount of time. Only thing that changed is I went to Medicare. (Facts: Mayo doesn't like to take care of people on Medicare, I know we are coded red. We come last, if at all.)
⦁ Why aren't all patients on Medicare told that you just don't want them. They are bottom of the barrel. Instead of making the suffer and deal with so much pain or sickness.
⦁ No medical staff should ever tell a patient, "You're a ticking time bomb". It does a lot of emotional trauma.
⦁ Dr. Never returning important phone call.
⦁ I was denied medical care and misdiagnosed for such a long time, the condition deteriorated over the time that I was ignored and not helped.
⦁ Mayo Clinic's orthopedic department just dropped me with absolutely no help at all. Just thrown away like trash to deal with pain and suffering.
The pain and suffering I have endorsed because of the misdiagnosing, treatment, discrimination, and the fact I was ignored from Mayo Clinic health, has taken a toll on myself, my family, husband. My life has changed 180 degrees from what it was because of the negligence I received from mayo health. I've lost so much time with family and making memories with them. My life has had to come to a complete halt. No traveling to see family at all. Just stopped.

Mayo Clinic Retaliation for refusal of screening

I have PMDD and take birth control as a treatment. This is not simply because I don't want a period nor is it to act as birth control, but rather because my PMDD causes such drastic changes in me that every time I have a period I swing into such a depressive state that I have intense feelings of depression and self-harm. My pap smear was coming up, and my primary care at the Mayo, Dr. Fredrixon, wanted me to get it done before she continued prescribing me birth control. I expressed my concerns about the effects of not having birth control on my PMDD and my wishes for trauma-informed gynecological care. I will not go into details, but I require trauma-informed care for all gynecological medical care, especially invasive procedures such as Pap smears. This was not offered to me at the Mayo so I said I would look for a more local option, but it would likely take at least a month or two as there are very limited trauma-informed local options around me. I also expressed my extreme discomfort with the procedure in general and I asked if there was any alternative to it or compromise that she would find acceptable, such as the less invasive HPV test (a significantly less invasive and less painful alternative to the pap test). She said no. I again expressed my deep discomfort with gynecological procedures and my fear that I would spiral due to the effects of my PMDD without birth control. I also stated that I did not want a Pap test. She did not care but said she would prescribe another month or two of birth control while I attempted to get in with a local gynecologist. I was unwilling, scared, and confused as to why I couldn't opt out of a Pap test. I got in contact with a trauma-informed gynecologist, but appointments were six months out. I told Dr. Frederixon I would not be able to get a pap smear until then and she stated she would prescribe a final couple of months of my birth control until the Pap test was done. I was now more scared than ever and I felt like I was being held hostage by Dr. Frederixon until I complied. My discomfort and my feelings of being coerced into a procedure and screening I was not comfortable with continued to grow. Eventually, I reached a point of total panic and fear, and I told her no. I did not consent to a pap smear. She promptly retaliated by refusing to prescribe me any form of birth control for my PMDD.

As far as I am aware, I, as a patient, have the right to refuse a Pap test. I also have the right to refuse a pap test and not have my doctor withhold healthcare or medication in retaliation. I truly thought that the Mayo would do better than this. I will not be going back.

Desired outcome: I want an apology. I want a statement saying that what happened was not okay and that although the Mayo strongly recommends Pap smears they aren't going to retaliate by withholding care or medication if you opt out of one.

Mayo Clinic Illegal use of personal financial information.

Mayo pharmacy mailed me a prescription which my insurance paid a portion thereof. But, the script that was mailed to me was dated "over 7-years" earlier.

A receipt included with script was forged via duplication of a receipt from an onsite mayo clinic pharmacy pickup 7+-years earlier. So, mayo clinic not only stored my financial information, mayo clinic utilized my financial information "without my consent". Hipaa? Patient privacy? Improper handling of financial data? Security of financial data? Mayo core values?

Desired outcome: Imprisonment of Corrupt Mayo Clinic Elite.

Mayo Clinic Endocrinology arizona mayo clinic

I was referred to DO Endocrinologist Craig Jenkins at the Mayo Clinic Arizona in November 2022.

Since everything was approved but I didn't receive a call from the Mayo clinic, I called the clinic on November 25th 2022 to schedule an appointment. I faxed the referral to the Mayo Clinic a I was required and I was told by a gentleman that I would "soon" receive a call from the scheduler.

On November 29th, since I did not hear anything from the Mayo Clinic, I called again to schedule an appointment. I talked to a lady this time, and I gave her all the information she requested. It lasted about 15-20 minutes.

She then informed me that "my condition was not treated by the Mayo Clinic". I did not have time to ask or even be told exactly the reason of my "denial", because the communication cut at that very moment.

I immediately tried to call her back, but the line was continuously busy for an hour and half. The day after, I tried to call the AZ Mayo Clinic again but the line was still busy. It did not make sense at all, so my husband used his phone and a lady immediately answered. After reviewing my case, she finally informed my husband that the AZ Mayo Clinic "was not taking new patients for autoimmune thyroid disease but they were only taking diabetic patients".

When we reported the issue to my provider, she called herself the Mayo clinic on December 5th 2022. After 30 minutes hold, she finally got through. They confirmed her that they were not "taking any new patients". She asked about the process of "denial" for this medical referral. The lady answered they had an algorithm and were following that, the lady also added "This happens when we have more patients than we have appointments slots for".

My medical provider asked if the physicians who referred the patient would have been even notified of this "denial". The lady only stated that they would eventually "tell the patient when they call to schedule".

My medical provider said she never heard such a thing in her "30+ years of medical practice nor even been told directly on the phone or otherwise".

My medical provider told me she understood that there could be sometimes log wait to see physicians but "denying" a referral remained really unethical

As for me, I am personally shocked by the way I was treated, the "poor"communication and the lack of consideration given to me as a patient. I really feel discriminated and I expected more and better from the Mayo Clinic.

Being denied medical care while referred is a big issue.

If there is an endocrinologist at the AZ Mayo Clinic, how can he choose to give medical care to some patients and refuse to provide his services to other patients? There is a medical and ethical issue.

Desired outcome: I would like an action to fix the situation.If the AZ Mayo Clinic "claims" to provide endocrinology , then they should provide the services they claim and should stop discriminating between patients.

Mayo Clinic Spells Clinic/Dr Jeffery Staab

I was discharged from St Marys hospital in June 2022 with a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder. I was told that I was on the list for the Spells Clinic, suggested I get a 30-day Holter monitor, and begin psychotherapy with CBT. I returned to my home state. In July I called Neurology dept to confirm that I am still on list for the Spells Clinic. I was told yes and also that I needed to be a resident of Rochester MN to qualify for the clinic. So, I ended up moving to Rochester at the end of July. I established myself with a Primary Care Doctor and Psychiatrist within the Mayo network. I again called the Neuro Dept in August 2022 to confirm I am still on the Spells Clinic list and was told yes, but I won't get in until Dec 2022 or Jan 2023. In the meantime, I saw Dr Jeffery Staab from the Psych Dept for a 2hr appt in Nov 2022. He told me that "the Spells Clinic does not exist. I am sorry, they should not have told you about it" and suggested I return home. He referred me to the patient complaint dept per my request. I was so upset and felt hopeless. I later find out that the Spells Clinic does exist and was shown proof. Overall, he lied to me about its nonexistence and is not returning messages sent to him by other depts. During the 4 months I have lived here, I have not received any treatment for FND. Health care professionals who stated they would help me, send me info, and follow up with me never did. I applaud Dr Ann Meyer for helping me to the extent she was able to. I am returning to my home state and will have to figure out FND on my own. I am shocked that I was lied to by a Mayo Clinic MD. I have found so much disorganization and lack of communication within Mayo Clinic. The right doesn't know what the left is doing. I did my part (having to spend thousands of dollars), but Mayo didn't fulfill its part for me. Very disappointed.

Mayo Clinic New Patient Customer Service Representative

The representative who spoke with me on the phone at the Jacksonville FL clinic was extremely abrupt, rude, and combative. I was trying to first give background information about my request for an appointment, but was met with an aggravated attitude which clearly was because of something else not even related to me or my request. She was very blunt and rude. You'd expect kindness, better customer service, and understanding from a top organization like Mayo, no matter what. At the end of the day, calling back patients even if it is to tell them bad news (such as they can't book an appointment etc.) is not just a name on a list. I'm a real person, dealing with pain and debilitating symptoms, not someone to dismiss or belittle.

Desired outcome: Train employees, especially those working with patients on the phone regularly, to have higher emotional intelligence and empathy.
