4.0 out of 5 stars1st Season got me hooked
Verified purchase
The 1st season was good and as for all the mixed comments I read, well, kinda how I feel. It really began to feel like a bad soap opera after season 2. Things really started to fall apart in writers minds. I felt like they were doing well bringing in new characters, but did little with them, as they could have broke up the lets gets this over with feeling. I stuck with it, because I was waiting for Victoria to be splattered on a wind shield or something like that. The rest of the Grandsons were so boring and glad to see them go. The daughter's part was so lame and she always had the look of I hate you all and the part to play of, well, who should I believe today, oh, maybe my mom, or maybe.... Worst part, next to Nolan's wife, slash loony wife, bad accent as well. The french girl, what a mess. She could fall in love in seconds, and then be blaming and framing all she thought responsible the next. Who was the craziest in this series? That"s almost the main question. Ok, now for positive. Emily and Jack were the cutest together and Sammy. Wish we could have had more of them and less of the hateful. Even in a series like this with a lot of hurt and painful memories, as humans, we do seek to find some safe spots for our hearts and soul. I thought Emily's days in Japan were a wise move for her to learn how to defend herself an to teach her to discipline her actions. She didn't always succeed, but that made her look more human. Nolan, what a hoot, this series was doing well with him, and with keeping out cussing, and nudity. But, why does every skinny nerd have to be gay? That was so stereo typical. Why did they have to do that to his character, it just an easier target and not necessary in every thing that comes out on T.V or movies. Like really, he was cute and popular like he was. Over all I gave the 4 stars for the 1st season and - 1 for the rest. Too bad it wasn't worth all those episodes. Lastly, the seasons last episode was good, just wish it could have been the last 12 episodes made into happy times for Emily and Jack.

Well the writing isn't great as usual. This show never really got back what it had in the first season. But my major gripe so far is that this season they're trying to tout the false idea that Emily had a choice between revenge and having a family. They keep pushing this idea that if Emily had just been honest from the start about who she was that she would've been welcomed with open arms. All you need to do is rewatch season 1 to see what BS THAT idea is so I suggest the writers do the same. Victoria and Conrad did not enjoy news of Amanda (fake Amanda) coming back into town and Victoria did everything in her power to keep her away from the family. It's like the writers and producers aren't even bothering to check their own story. Another lovely idea they're trying to spin: The idea that David Clark gave Amanda those journals so that she could "forgive" not get revenge. Uh... did the writers forget that in season 1 David's journals were the one's that told Amanda to seek out pro-revenge artist Takeda to teach her all about how to go about Revenge? Apparently so. In his journal David literally told Amanda she could choose whether to seek him out or not. Don't you just hate the fact that these bozos in the writing staff aren't even putting forth 20% of the effort to keep their story cohesive?

I will say this though- The guy playing David Clark gives an absolutely stellar performance in the role. He is completely believable both when playing mentally off and not. Even though the writers are using him to ask the audience to accept some pretty ridiculously unbelievable things- like leaving his daughter's side and judging her the very moment after finding out she was alive and being a-ok with the knowledge that Victoria tried to get him to hurt his own daughter by not telling him Emily was Amanda. Oy vey.

4.0 out of 5 starsWriters got tired but I love Nolan & Declan
Verified purchase
This is a very good show. It basically tells the story of how someone who is obsessed can become psychopathic but it truly is a story of revenge - not avenge, which some people who commented didn't seem to appreciate. The situation with Emily, her dad and Victoria and her son, however, in Season 4, become so very convoluted as to be confusing; it's as if the writers had to create new or more situations 'to cover' or 'make believable', situations they had previously created; it helps to watch each episode more than once before going on to the next. I wanted to like Emily's dad, but I simply couldn't. He should have cleaned up, right away, among other things - he didn't fit the Hamptons' lifestyle although he had lived in that world before. That made it almost impossible 'to believe' Victoria's feelings left for him. There were so many open and better possibilities for an end story line - which of course is always disappointing. Spoiler Alert from here: Declan really helped "make" this show and he was gone far too soon.

3.0 out of 5 starsWaiting and Hoping For Revenge To Get Back On Track
Verified purchase
I'm a fan of the show, corny and as far fetched as it is and always has been. But this is my least favorite season as I don't find Emily's father interesting or likeable at all. I'm not sure where the story can go from here, although I hope to be surprised by something big and I keep watching as I feel invested in it having seen all prior seasons. The twist seems to now be about revenge against Emily. But something big needs to happen soon as right now it's scattered with these little weird dull plots that center around Nolan's new bride, the romance between Emily and Jack's partner (a pairing that doesn't work for me) and Margot's revenge vendetta against Emily and desire to clear Daniel's name (lame considering he was pathetic as he did try to kill Emily even if he saved her later). Can Margot really stand a chance against Emily? It just doesn't seem believable that Margot could even stand a chance even as the head of the newspaper dynasty left by her father. And while I love the actor who played Malcolm the way that storyline played out was a bust. Plus, what's up with Jack? Once so likable although a constant complainer, he's just dull and lacking any charm right now. I think the show is meandering and needs to step it up in a big way. Of course, I say that but I will keep watching anyway as I'm hooked in, but I don't think I can stay tuned much longer if something bigger and more interesting doesn't emerge.

4.0 out of 5 starsNot a Great Ending
Verified purchase
What a great series. Loved all of the actors, especially Nolan, Victoria, and Conrad Greyson.

Not a great ending though. I don't know why but I didn't want to see Victoria shot by Amanda or her father or anyone and die. I didn't want to see her get away of course but maybe just caught. She was a horrible person but the actress who played her was so great at being her.

Also, the romance between Amanda and her childhood love Jack was something I wanted to see seasons ago, it just didn't seem believable at this point, everything was so rushed.

I'm glad they left things open for Nolan Ross, super hacker to maybe come back in a future series of his own.

5.0 out of 5 starsOne of the best shows I've ever watched

One of the best shows I've ever watched! It has romance, action, and lots of drama! This show got me hooked after the first few episodes and I couldn't stop watching. If you love drama, revenge or even a good cry this is the show! Everyone says they got annoyed at David but thats only when he was seeing Victoria. When he stopped seeing her he became a good father and became way more like able.
I think Louise irritated me the most and she seemed not needed but was more of a filler for the story to spice things up. Her flip flop attitude was bothersome. Most of the characters I really enjoyed Jack, Emily, David and Nolan mostly.

5.0 out of 5 starsOutstanding show with a few hiccups
Verified purchase
excellent show but so many gaps and acts of disbelief. Take for example this episode where Courtney Love stabs Jack and then vanishes like a ghost when the swat team shows up. My only guess is that is the most incompetent swat team to ever have walked this planet. What did they do just cover the front door only and not establish a perimeter? Maybe its just bad inaccurate writing but either way it kind of just leaves the viewer with that feeling of disgust. Otherwise this is a great show with incredible acting.

I have watched Revenge five times on Netflix since 2014 or 2015. I wanted to watch it again, but it was not on. I love this show so much that I decided to purchase each season because I know I will want to watch it again and again. It is one of the best shows I have ever watched. I love the twists and turns and unexpected events. I did hate it when Amanda, then Declan, then Adan were killed, but still love the show
