Hello Tom

Are you receiving emails from your Yahoo account since the normal configuration would be that the smtp (outbound server for sending emails) is set to authenticate using the credentials for the incoming server

If the answer to the above is yes, then press CTRL+ALT+S to bring up the Send/Receive window --> Select <Edit> --> select your Yahoo account --> click on <Account Properties> --> go to <Outgoing Server tab

If this is a case where you need to reset the password for the account in general, first step is to follow the steps from the following

Change or reset your Yahoo password
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN27051.html

Once you've done that, you'll need to update the account password in Outlook via the same process mentioned above (go to the first tab for the email settings - either POP3 or IMAP depending on how you've configured the account.

Also remember that if you have 2 factor authentication configured on your Yahoo account, you'll need to generate a new <App Password> and enter that as the account password in Outlook

Perhaps you can clarify what is being referred to in terms of

"The link in this note did not have the possibilities listed"

Specifically in reference to "possibilities"

Thank you for trying to help me.

I have several email accounts for business and personal use.

I use Outlook to coordinate them.

I was having trouble with a Yahoo account. It would receive but not send. It was asking for the password.

The problem was that I had changed to a Yahoo PIN password system.

Outlook would not recognize the PIN.

I have gone back to the regular password system and all is now good. :)

Tom
