Michelle Marsh is an Emmy Award-winning evening anchor for 7News. She joined the team in January 2016 and regularly anchors the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscast.

While at 7News, she has reported on several history-making events in Washington, D.C. including interviewing U.S. Senator, Chris Van Hollen (D-Md) live while the Capitol was under siege on January 6 and the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump.

Michelle also covered presidential inaugurations including the historic inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States.

In addition to leading daily newscasts, Michelle also regularly hosts hour-long town halls covering pressing issues impacting our community. In 2021, she covered topics ranging from food insecurity to racial equity and the disparities exacerbated in education and healthcare systems by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Michelle is a huge sports fan. She had the thrill of covering the best-of-seven playoff between the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals in 2019. Michelle field anchored from Houston’s Minute Maid Park for all four games including the pivotal Game 7 that earned the Nationals their first World Series title in franchise history. Michelle said witnessing the Nationals' “Finish the Fight” was exciting and a career highlight.

In 2021, she received an Emmy for Outstanding News Anchor. She was also named Best TV News Anchor by the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association in 2021.

Michelle came to 7News from WRAL-TV in Raleigh, NC where she spent four years as a morning and noon anchor.

Before working in North Carolina, Michelle anchored and reported in Atlanta, Georgia for WGCL. Michelle is a native New Yorker and began her career as a reporter at stations in Binghamton and Albany. She is an alumnus of Syracuse University, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism.

Michelle's move to the DMV brings her closer to family. Her sister Rene is a correspondent for CNN based in Washington, D.C.

During her free time, Michelle enjoys cheering on the area’s local sports teams. You may spot her at D.C. United games or taking in a Wizards game. She’s often out enjoying the robust restaurant scene in the DMV so if you see her, say hello! Some of her favorite spots are in D.C. and Northern Virginia. Michelle enjoys working with many charitable organizations in the metro area and talking to students.

Live music and theater are two of her favorites. Michelle’s love for musical theater stems from her years of training in ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance.

Michelle grew up in Queens and Long Island. She is of Jamaican descent.
