Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Ivanhoe123Chesterfield, UK122 contributionsI was interested in the fascinating history of the area as I had done some training at Claybury Hospital. The new development was so interesting and lovely walks around.Written 31 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ShaunH290London, UK2,334 contributionsWe were walking in the forest looking at an online map when we noticed that the Gypsy Stone was close by, so we investigated. There is at least one signpost to it and we found it quite easily.
The large, commemorative stone marks the spot (approximately, we presume) where Rodney "Gipsy" Smith MBE (31 March 1860 – 4 August 1947) was born to gypsy parents. He received no formal schooling but became a British evangelist who conducted campaigns around the world for over 70 years.
As well as an inscription, the stone has a carving of a vardo. This is a traditional horse-drawn wagon used by British Romany Travellers as their home. Apparently, a vardo must have four wheels, with two being used for steering.Written 12 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Derick AWidnes, UK115 contributionsI've wanted to do one of Ranjeet's courses for some time and I was not disappointed. Everyone has their own hot plate and learns to cook three dishes. Ranjeet is lively and fun and very knowledgeable on Indian cuisine. As I am vegan, she did a vegan course for me and best thing is you get to eat it there! I would recommend this to anyone. I've just attempted to make my own dahl from Ranjeet's recipe and it was delicious.Written 18 December 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, this time there was no music, the door was partially opened and the therapist was talking in Thai with another lady outside most of the time. Even this alone would spoil the experience somewhat. However, this was not all. I paid for one hour but the masseuse finished 48 minutes from the time I entered the therapy room. I tried to explain it to her, which was - due to her extremely limited English - rather difficult. Finally, I showed her what time my receipt was printed (if you go, I suggest that you definitely keep your receipt as proof) and what time was it now. I demanded ÂŁ11 back (20% less time = 20% less charge). The masseuse then argued that she finished 10 not 12 minutes earlier. I said that if that ÂŁ1 was worth me not ever coming back and writing this review, then be it.
Well, this was meant to be my Mother's Day treat. It turned into a nightmare.Written 18 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My nails were cut down too much, my big toe is extremely sore as it is still red a day later.
They didn’t have any special equipment, not even a scrub which was appalling. The basics of having hot water was not even achievable. I was disappointed. I was not welcomed with any customer service and there was no atmosphere what so ever. Very unprofessional and I would not recommend.Written 4 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
