Each time schoolchildren look forward to the next term: They get to see their friends again, unpack their school bags and take notes of what their favorite teacher explains at the board. Unfortunately, not every child is that lucky. In Pskov, a very poor region in Russia, many orphans lack the most self-evident things to learn without interruption.
“It should be taken for granted for kids to concentrate on school without worrying about having schoolbags, notebooks, or pens. Their education should not fail because of such small things, the foundation for their future is laid in school”, says Bernadette Umgeher (mother of two), RBI-employee and manager of this project.
It is our pleasure that we have managed to equip the 300 neediest of the orphanages with great and new school supplies. With a smile on their face, they too can sit down beside their friends in class now.
