We had a lovely evening. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and welcoming. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and showed great care about us being happy with everything. The food was lovely and a good choice with a difference. I would highly recommend it.

A modern community pub with a good selection of beers and seasonal ales, quality pub food served by a friendly smiley young (& young @ ❤️) team.
If you're expecting an ala carte restaurant then you're coming to the wrong place... it's a pub that serves good quality beer and pub food. Although it has to be said the guys in the kitchen knock out a great cheese 🧀 & onion pie (my comfort food) with the lamb shank and shoulder of beef also a tasty treat.
A modern open Lounge area, which could probably do with bit of a refresh (is still very comfy though).
There's always something going on with Quiz nights and entertainment laid on, on a weekly basis.
The Vault offers a warm welcome to both Blue & Red (friendly banter with no bitterness allowed here). A good after work wind down or a place to catch up with your mates that offers an alternative to the lounge.
The beer garden with plenty of seating has just this summer had a complete refurbishment and looks fresh, clean and tidy.
The team lead by Ant, Ang and family don't suffer fools gladly and enforce (in a friendly way) the no baseball caps, bad language etc, if you want to "F&Jeff" then go somewhere else. They keep the community standards up and without them The Rose wouldn't be the good pub it is.
The Rose community has helped raise tens of thousands of pounds for good causes (this year Prostate Cancer), which is a good reflection on the type of pub it is "a great community pub".

Travelling on the Rochdale canal we made a huge effort to get to the Rose of Lancaster for dinner. We were soaked through cold and very hungry, so imagine our disappointment when we were told they had stopped serving for the evening. We explained how hard we had worked to get there and taking pity on us the girl behind the bar went and spoke to the owner. He came and spoke with us and agreed that he would cook us whatever we wanted. There was a list of wonderful things to chose from but I decided to have a chicken BLT thinking it would be smaller than a main meal. Well, it was so big that the rest of our party were still waiting for me to finish after they had. It was so tasty too ( the bacon wasn't a measly dasher it was a proper chunk of bacon). All the staff were so nice to us and it was very kind of them to feed us when they didn't need to. But if you are in the same situation a quick phone call to them to let them know you are on the way and they will wait for you.

Lovely food however the attitude of some members of staff let the pub down. Very rude and arrogant.
Unfortunately because of this we will not be returning.
